Jakarta Post Against Book-Burning – If The Books Are Leftist?

    Don’t burn books

    • That was the stark demand from the ‘Editorial Board of The Jakarta Post’ issued on January 29, 2019, along with a large photograph, this photo…

    • ====

    Don't burn books=======

…of a 1965 demo by the totalitarian hypocrites of the PKI, the Indonesian Communist Party, in the heart of Jakarta.

The occasion for the Jakarta Post’s outrage was the recent move by the Indonesian government’s to conduct raids on leftist books...,

That deserves our attention, but the JP editors have an odd way of looking at it, their heartfelt rant launched with the words ‘people fear what they don’t understand…

Like, uh, what’s not to understand?

Indonesians are not stupid. They understand today, as they understood in 1965, the essential evil of communism, the gulags, the eradication of free elections, opposition parties, free labour unions, free student unions, opposition media and the jackboot on religious liberty.

They remember how the PKI leader D N Aidit told his comrades that his own preferred model was North Korea, and if young Indonesians listen to their elders, they’d hear of the appalling and brutal intolerance of the PKI….

Jakarta Post – Never Miss a Chance to Re-Hab Reds!

…and its collaborators, like the rotten ‘intellectuals’ in the red front gang LEKRA, whose leading light Pramoedya we have mentioned before.

Tempo, issue May 16-22, 2006 – an extract which explains why some 25 “prominent literary figures and cultural observers” put their distinguished names to a formal submission to the Magsaysay Award Committee in 1995, protesting at that body’s decision to give Pramoedya an award.

Their reasons were simply stated, viz his unethical role during one of the darkest periods for creativity during the Guided Democracy era, when he led the persecution of artists and literary figures who disagreed with him. (this protest is air-brushed out of most Western references nowadays, though a brief mention is to be found in an otherwise slavishly pro-Pram article in the Economist  http://www.economist.com/node/168819 )

The Jakarta Post evidently regrets that there have  been no efforts to exorcise Indonesians’ fear and loathing of Marxism-Leninism.

Indeed, the Jakarta Post regards the law which outlawed the PKI as merely a means to ‘demonise’ anything leftist…

Among the JP editors’ gripes about the law’s applications, are ‘crack-downs’ on ‘books, which at times have only marginally been tied to the communist coup.’

    communism tyranny

The JP gives examples, one of which is a ‘a text written by one of the country’s founding fathers that opens up a discussion on the interpretation of Islamic texts’ and  they may well have a point about that – but you can read their whole paean of protest for yourselves.

But the major question that arises from these ‘free-speech’ bleaters has surely got to be-

Regular readers here at RRA will remember the infamous Nazi-style book-burning in Jakarta, sponsored not only by the most backward Islamist fanatics…

…but by Indonesia’s largest publishing empire, Gramedia, of which, last I heard, the Jakarta Post is part.

That was a Hitlerite atrocity against free expression which, again last I heard, the JP editorial board has never issued any thunderous denunciation of ‘pointless book raids and book burning’ referencing that episode which was fundamentally an action replay of scenes like this…

    German Nazi book-burning

…which were a familiar part of life in 1930s Germany.

Yet when action is taken against the Left, the hacks get noisy?

    Draw your own conclusions.

    • JazPen 15:07 on February 4, 2019 Permalink | Reply

      Well asked, Ross.
These lefties at the JP were very happy to let the Gramedia book burning pass without a peep of protest.
Now that their co-lefties are in trouble the JP editors are at their most hypocritical loudest.

    • Jim ex Jakarta 20:11 on February 4, 2019 Permalink | Reply

JazPen, you are correct, the hypocrisy of the Jakarta Post editorial board is shocking.
They rave on about how raids on leftwing books are so bad but when their Gramedia boss company burnt some other books, the Jakarta Post were as quiet as a mouse.
Those editors kept quiet about Gramedia’s nazi stunt either because they feared for their jobs if the criticised the book-burning, or because they sniffed the wind and decided the ayatollah scholars would soon be running the country and they better not upset them.
The liberals over there in Indonesia wont fight back against creeping shariah and if you look at the two vice-presidential candidates, you can see the shariah is no longer creeping.
      Stampede more like it.

I didn’t move from Jakarta to where I am now because of the way the country’s been going but the change in Indonesia from when I came there years ago did make me feel that getting out was no bad thing.

    • Kezia 09:14 on February 5, 2019 Permalink | Reply

It is truly not consistent how the Jakarta Post was so silent when Gramedia followe nazi tradition and burned books but now so very vocal for the Leftwing victims.
I think it is always wrong to burn books, so I agree that the Jakarta Post editors have no courage.
      They are hypocrites.

    • Mitch 16:01 on February 5, 2019 Permalink | Reply

I go along with you on the Gramedia book-burning. That was appeasement of Islamist fanatics and I still try to avoid shopping in Gramedia when there are handy alternatives.
That is one thing but two wrongs never make a right.
Just because the Jakarta Post editors are guilty of double standards, that should not mean we ignore the unwisdom of the raids on leftwing books.

BBC Bias On PKI – So Kids Shouldn’t Learn Nazis Were Evil?

When I was at school, partly in Canada but also in Britain, our teachers did not mince their words about Hitler and his Nazis.

    • nazi-eu-hitler
    • —————-
    • They were BAD, BAD, BAD.

Especially in Britain, where there were areas we passed each day on our way to and from school where entire blocks of buildings, homes to hundreds of families, had been blown away by the Luftwaffe, acting on Nazi Blitzkrieg orders.

I suppose you might find Nazi-sympathisers who’d argue that our teachers’ lessons on the evils of Hitler’s cause were ‘indoctrination,’ but most would disagree.

    Like the Spanish Inquisition…

    …and the Slave Trade…

….and sending small children up factory chimneys…

….there were, and are, certain aspects of history which we are brought up, by both teachers and parents, to believe were wicked.

Certainly nobody at the BBC would describe class-room condemnation of such evils as ‘indoctrination.’

So how come the BBC applies a different standard to Indonesia.

Children were indoctrinated to believe that communists were evil.

That one sentence, in a long report on the current debate here in Jakarta….

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-36431837 – on whether President Jokowi should make a formal apology to the unrepentant totalitarian hypocrites of the Indonesian Communist Party – the hated PKI….

    ….displays BBC’s essentially leftist bias.

    It’s an absurd sentence.

Imagine if mathematics teachers were the topic?

Children were indoctrinated to believe that 2+ 2 =4.

    Or geography teachers?

Children were indoctrinated to believe that Indonesia is an archipelago.

Of course communists were, and are, evil, for every possible reason, and nobody who has studied history should need to be reminded of those reasons, some of which we reviewed in this post.

‘We Don’t Want Communism?’ But if You Did, It’s Time To Apologise!!

…it was the PKI who caused the mass slaughter. Their lying communist propaganda gulled thousands of simple folk into their peasants’ and industrial workers’ front outfits, and it was those poor mugs who got the brunt of the backlash.

Mind you, not all of the PKI fronts were naive dupes.

LEKRA, the ‘intellectual’ gang whose leading light was Pramoedya
That nasty old swine was as viciously intolerant towards freedom-loving Indonesians as the IslamoNazi FPI is today intolerant of Indonesians who believe in religious liberty.

–I’ve referred readers to Tempo, issue May 16-22, 2006 before, but must once more do so, for it covers the evil old Red’s career rather well and explains why some 25 “prominent literary figures and cultural observers” put their distinguished names to a formal submission to the Magsaysay Award Committee in 1995, protesting at that body’s decision to give Pramoedya an award.

Their reasons were simply stated, viz his unethical role during one of the darkest periods for creativity during the Guided Democracy era, when he led the persecution of artists and literary figures who disagreed with him. Aidit Senior was indeed killed, but plenty of his comrades ran like cockroaches, to the sort of countries where they’d feel at ease, tyrannies in which neither peasants nor workers enjoyed any vestige of liberty.  Places like Red China, and, I imagine, Castro’s Cuba, where evil held sway and still does.

aiditMetro TV - Kemarin, Che Guevara (Penjahat Komunis) - Siapa Besok? D.N.Aidit (PKI)? Aidit and Guevara- rabid reds unlamented

To teach kids that communists are evil…hell, it’s no different from telling them not to bully class-mates, or steal other kids’ lunch-money, or warning them not to talk to strangers.

So why does the BBC suggest such teaching is ‘indoctrination?’

Brexit Will Ignite Holocausts? Hysterical ‘Remain’ Hogwash!

I have always enjoyed political fiction, and I’ve mentioned before my liking for the ‘what if” variety, one of the first I ever read as a teenager being Sir Charles Petrie’s ‘If, A Jacobite Fantasy.’

That offered an intriguing guess about how things might have turned out had Bonnie Prince Charlie pressed on to London in 1745. If: A Jacobite Fantasy

    It whetted my appetite.

    Constantine-Fitzgibbon_When-the-kissing-had-to-stop (1)

There was ‘When The Kissing Had to Stop,’ by Constantine Fitzgibbon, a nightmare yarn on the fate of Britain had CND prevailed and the Communists taken power.

    • ‘SSGB’ by Ken Deighton, and the famous Philip K Dick’s ‘The Man in the High Castle,‘ both wondering how we’d be if my parents’ generation had lost World War Two.

And I have meandered through many others over the years, Sinclair Lewis’ ‘It Can’t Happen Here’ being one of the best.

But today, thanks to EUObserver, I’ve discovered another writer, whose gift for wild imagining goes far beyond any of those already mentioned.

     Moshe the Hysteria-Monger

    • His name’s Moshe Kantor, and he’s a top man in the European Jewish Congress.

Here’s a little taster to tantalise you.

Nationalists will inevitably be followed by extremists and radicals of all kinds. Europe will find itself back in the 1930s, if not in the Middle Ages. Do we remember what happened after the 1930s – World War II and Holocaust?

    Scary stuff, huh?

A terrifying regression of our civilisation, into a mediaeval world of pogroms, apocalyptic scenes of genocide, images of concentration camps flashing before our eyes – surely the book will soon be made into a movie.

    june 23

    It’s not a book.

This lurid vision comes from Kantor’s crazed anti-Brexit article, some of the most hysterical hogwash I’ve yet encountered in my voluminous reading in the run-up to the UK referendum on June 23rd.

Mr. Kantor is worried, and not without reason.

Jews are being attacked more often; fearing for their lives, Jews are leaving Europe in larger numbers.

But that’s down to a very large number of unpleasant and uncivilised people having been admitted to Europe over the years, many settling in the French banlieues or in Brussels’ Molinbeek. These savages have failed – because they didn’t try! – to become part of the Western societies they chose to settle in.

    banlieue1 Paris banlieue burning

Instead, though few of those hail from the Middle East, most of them being of North African origin  they are motivated by imbecilic sectarian solidarity with the PLO, with Hamas and with ISIS.

    • devil_by_lucasgraciano-d5agjlm
    • That’s not just my view – even crimmigrant-sympathetic media like The Local have acknowledged this.

...the bloodshed in the Middle East unleashed a wave of unrest, particularly in the Paris region which saw a surge in anti-Semitic acts and threats...Rising anti-Semitism forces Jews out of Paris suburbs

Jihadist savages are the source of the attacks, and the fact they have not been subdued, detained, expelled and their menace thus removed is why Jews are leaving.

How come those needful steps have not been taken? And how come their numbers have swollen, not just in France and Belgium but all across the Continent?

    Here’s the answer – EUSSR!

A million aliens who do not share European culture or values have poured in, thanks to the Brussels clique, specifically…

    merkel danger

Merkel’s devastating invitation, Mogherini’s wicked incitement, and Liar Juncker’s hectoring abuse, cheer-leading Timmerman’s intimidation of those nations bold enough to resist…

Good Dutch News, Bad Dutch Man – Time To Exert People Power!

…an arrogant elite, causing the problem, exacerbating it, then endeavouring to bully everyone else into sharing its hellish consequences.

It’s the European Union’s malevolent political in-crowd that deserves condemnation, by Jews, and Germans, and everyone else. It’s the European Convention, its ‘rights’ rubbish and the rogue courts that apply its strictures.

‘Europe’ in its formal EUSSR guise is the deadly enemy of Europe as an historic entity with a common cultural heritage.

Yet Kantor’s crazed scribbling holds up Brexit as the threat.

There is no doubt that if the EU gets weaker or collapses under the weight of social, economic and financial troubles, anti-Semitism, one of the most detestable manifestations of xenophobia and extremism, will escalate to the level of regular pogroms, if not to the level of Nazi persecutions.

    Oi vey, Moshe, get real!

He’s an educated man,who must be aware that the EU is the brain-child of the Belgian Nazi Spaak and the Vichy collaborator Schuman.

    Spaak, a sleazy Belgian Nazi

Like Adolf Hitler, Jean Monnet held the common people in contempt…

“Europe’s nations should be guided towards the super-state without their people understanding what is happening. This can be accomplished by successive steps each disguised as having an economic purpose, but which will eventually and irreversibly lead to federation.”
Jean Monnet, Founder of the European Movement.

.. deeming them as mere sheep to be kept in the dark while their superiors forge ahead with his Fourth Reich.

Kantor must know, too, that the ‘nationalists’ he loathes are the very parties who show solidarity with Israel. Austria’s FPO is just one example of that.

But whatever, his nasty rant, trying to smear Brexiteers by suggesting their endeavours will lead to another Holocaust, is beneath contempt.

PS, The offensive article was first published in February, but has only now popped up on EUObserver’s website. Not sure why, but nevertheless, Kantor should apologise for slurring good patriots.

Hitler’s SPD Heirs – ‘Media Must Gag Critics of Crimmigration!’

    Hitler’s Heirs?

    • ————————————————–
    • Der Fuhrer’s party was the NSDAP, the National Socialist German Workers’ Party. The proud inheritors of his hatred of freedom belong to the Europhiliac German Socialist Party, the SPD.

A brace of SPD bigots, Matthias Groode and Barbel Bas, distinguished themselves last month by their spittle-flecked fury when a genuine German patriot, from the AfD party, the Alternative for Germany, DARED to produce a German flag and talk of his love of country on a German talk-show.

Obviously, cultural marxists react to expressions of patriotic sentiment much as Ibi Cat here at home reacts if a passing canine sticks its snout through the railings that separate my front yard from the public footpath.

We’re all used to ‘No Platform’ leftist intolerance and expect no less from the SPD.

But the focus of their fury was not just Herr Hocke, the man from the patriotic party, but also that part of the German media which gave a ( quite rare) fair hearing on public television to critics of crimmigration.

The Bas vixen, parliamentary secretary of her parliamentary group, raged against free speech for her opponents.

These totalitarian creeps don’t have much to worry about.

Much of the ‘mainstream’ media in Germany had something of a collective nervous breakdown, not because of anything the AfD guy said, but because he held his country’s flag with pride.    http://www.breitbart.com/london/2015/10/19/outrage-afd-politician-brandishes-german-flag-german-tv/

Spain – Government Funds ‘Juden Raus’ Fiesta!

    Another petition?

And why not? Petitions are a simple means of protest which anyone, anywhere can utilise, no matter where they are and how much or how little money – or energy – they may have.

    • If you can’t get out to join a demo, you can add your name to a protest, and this seems an episode that merits protest, a shocking resurgence of nazi-style anti-Jewish persecution, in Spain, of all places.

Okay, if a bunch of pro-Palestine creepoids want to run a festival, they can invite, or dis-invite, whomsoever they like, or dislike. It’s then up to Spaniards if they wish to attend any reggae-fied version of a Nuremberg Rally!

Seemingly not! Although Rotototum’s own news section has this alluring indication of whose drum they march to.

    • I see no matching guest-input from any of Castro’s Cuban dungeons, or any Yazidi rape victims…ho-hum…

An affronted Jewish group in Spain has observed –

At Last, ‘Seekers’ Who Deserve Asylum!

While none of us wants undesirable bludgers swarming into our countries, it’s important to remember that ‘asylum-seeker’ was once a respectable term, refugees from communism in particular given shelter from the evil that reigned in their homelands.

Some leftists in Australia would like to air-brush their Labor heroes’ racist hostility to desperate Vietnamese who sought Antipodean sanctuary after the tragic Fall of Saigon to the forces of tyranny.

    • communism tyranny

    • Nowadays, so many phoneys hide beneath the label, economic migrants mostly but all kinds of crimmigrant trash too, we sometimes lose sight of the original legitimate definition.

But real asylum-seekers do still exist, and paradoxically, given our choice of photograph, Germany is one country from which victimised refugees may benefit from the latest congressional moves in America!

The House Judiciary Committee passed a bill Wednesday that would allow people to seek asylum in the USA if they are persecuted by their governments for homeschooling their children.

You might imagine that totalitarian regimes are the sort that target home-schoolers. But, in reality, it’s Western European countries that are the villains, notably Germany, which maintains Hitler’s Nazi ban on the practice, and Sweden.  read more here  http://www.onenewsnow.com/education/2015/02/26/sweden%E2%80%99s-high-court-all-but-bans-homeschooling-family-appeals-to-echr#.VQpQvJSSwy8

“Shouldn’t children who are fleeing child abuse and violence be afforded the same protection as a child who is denied homeschooling?” said Rep. Luis Gutiérrez, D-Ill…

    • This specious reasoning was fast shot down by Rep. Raúl Labrador, R-Idaho, who pointed out that asylum had always been reserved for refugees persecuted by their governments…

And the bill’s sponsor, Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, added that if the law was changed to allow victims of crime-ridden nations to gain asylum, the USA would be unable to absorb the millions of refugees who would flee from countries where gangs run rampant.   http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2015/03/18/house-judiciary-committee-immigration-enforcement-bills/24960965/

His Asylum Reform and Border Protection Act also tries to tighten up admission rules to restrict the number of dubious claimants who currently get through the net.

Sounds like a sensible measure, so let’s wish it well!

It needs to finish its passage in the House before going to the Senate. And even if it passes there, it may well be vetoed by the Un-American in the White House.

Criminals are okay as far as he’s concerned…GOP Silent as Obama‘s Illegals Cause Crime Wave | The Daily Caller …but probably not genuine cases of persecution, which the home-schoolers undoubtedly are

Colonialist Cristina Cowers From ‘Assassin’ Accusations!

Hey, my visitor has gone home, leaving my little house spick and span, and I have now surfaced after a deserved nap!
And I have just been watching the President of Argentina on tv, looking as hot as some of those exotic Blok M bar dancers!
And I’ve been enjoying her performance almost as much as I have enjoyed some of theirs.
The news programme featured the widow of the man who had uncovered Kirchner’s ‘cover-up,’ the protective cloak allegedly spread over the sectarian mass-murder of Jews in Argentina.
If it is ultimately proven, President Kirchner will be up there in the anti-semitic pantheon along with that other Argie prez, Juan Peron, who in 1945  welcomed Mengele, Eichmann and many other sedulous servants of the Nazi Party.
Kirchner already shares with Peron the imperialist urges which Argie expansionists nurture, ranting incoherently about subjugating the British population of the Falkland Islands, to which Buenos Aires has not a shred of legitimate claim.
One has to wonder if Kirchner would do to those South Atlantic Brits what her predecessors did to Argentina’s mainland indigenous population – a fair imitation of Hitler’s genocidal policies.
Indians of the Gran Chaco Argentina c1935
    Wipe-out, near enough!
Certainly, my own old home, that fine farm in Ontario, was – and is, though it’s not ours any more –  once upon a time the hunting ground of the Red Indians; but Canada has no territorial ambitions against peaceful neighbours these days.
    Unlike Argentina!
She began by suggesting the investigator killed himself, but now she’s been blaming ‘rogue’ elements of her own intelligence service.
Her regime’s collaboration with Iran’s Islamist tyranny will no doubt be gradually uncovered.
But meanwhile, I’m sure our British kith and kin in the Falkland Islands are even more delighted than usual that her colonialist schemes  – as with those of her predecessors – were and are thwarted by HM Armed Services.
Another reason to remember Maggie fondly!

Twice in 24 Hours? How Many Brit Kids Brain-Washed Daily?

Only yesterday we urged that steps be taken with regard to how so-called ‘teachers’ in UK schools were abusing their positions to poison young minds.

Red Teacher Smears UKIP? More Than One Lesson Here!

     Now today we read what?

‘We were shown a slide of a multicultural society and told how

great it was that pupils were from such diverse backgrounds’

So says a pupil at Chellaston Academy, in Derby.

Since when have ‘teachers’ had the right to subject this child or any other to multi-cult propaganda?

But that’s just the background. The enormity of the anti-UKIP smear organised in that rats’ nest of a school is hard to believe.

Dr. Goebbels, Hitler’s Propaganda Minister, would make a grand Chellaston Headmaster.

…the incident came to light after a pupil went home and told his parents that a slideshow – which featured Nazi death squads, Jewish ghettos and the rounding-up of millions of Slavs and Romany gypsies – had also featured a picture of Mr Farage.

The slide with his image is reported to have said: “There’s no way modern Britain could repeat Melita’s mistakes… right?” and displayed an image of Nigel Farage…

Melita was apparently some 1930s nazi apparatchik, but no matter who she was, it would be hard for even the most brazen prevaricator to deny the marxist malice motivating the slide-show organisers – wouldn’t it?

Derby school under fire from UKIP for using their photos in Holocaust slideshow

Not if you’re Red Ray Ruszczynski, Head ‘Teacher, it wouldn’t!

This arrogant commissar has the brass neck to deny the leftist lesson-plan was deliberate defamation of a patriotic party.

“It is absolute nonsense to suggest we implied Nigel Farage was some kind of grim reaper who would bring the next Holocaust.

Get real, Red Ray. You’ve been caught red-handed! But no, the creep won’t own up. Almost, though. He admits it was an attempt to influence how the youngsters would vote.

It was more about how our students should be careful in the run-up to the elections to think about what politicians say.”

This cocky comrade is due to retire soon. In view of his irresponsible – and unrepentant –  behaviour, that should be without any state-funded pension.

Some Arabs Are Smart – CAIR LISTED AS TERRORIST!

Well, good for the United Arab Emirates Government, which published a list of over EIGHTY outfits it brands as terrorist. UAE lists scores of groups as ‘terrorists

That report comes from Aljazeera.com15 Nov 2014, not a source I often use, but then when it runs through some of the organisations on the UAE black-list, I am reminded why.

It does not report that CAIR is amongst them.

    • However, there are plenty of other media which do assist in letting the cat out of the bag…
    • UAE Names CAIR, Muslim Brotherhood as Terror Groups
      The Jewish Press15 Nov 2014
    • …so let’s hope Obama will cut all links with the enemy within, which he has hitherto clasped to the bosom of his Administration.

    He won’t.

He knows eactly the nature of the beast. We told him about CAIR’s anti-American agenda and its numerous luminaries with disgraceful records.

And we were only passing on info that’s been in the public domain for a long time.

Banned from Britain, Plucky Pam Exposes CAIR On San Fran Buses!

Here’s a CAIR poster urging subversion.

When America went to war with Nazi Germany, did FDR not crack down on the German American Bund? Time for USA to emulate UAE?

Ibrahim Hooper`s lost his job then?
He had best go to the Levant now and run around with his buddies there.
