Bias! A Patriot MP Enrages State-Media Hacks!

Many a patriot in many a country must be wishing they had somebody as conscientious as Austrian lawmaker Norbert Steger supervising their publicly owned media.

He’s the FPO patriot party’s man on the board of Österreichischer  Rundfunk (ORF)  and he’s threatened to axe one third of its foreign correspondents.after what he calls “biased” reporting on the Hungarian election.

He told the Salzburger Nachrichten newspaper, that foreign correspondents who “do not behave correctly” would risk losing their jobs….

….and that ORF journalists who violate the company’s social media guideline “will receive a warning — and then be dismissed.”

Needless to say, ORF hacks with their snouts deep in the public purse….

• ….were not best pleased at having somebody for whom actual people have cast actual votes telling them to keep their own left-liberal prejudices out of news presentation.

Their self-satisfied arrogance was never more brashly expressed than by Alexander Wrabetz, ORF Director General.

“The sixteen ORF offices are an indispensable, highly valued pillar of international reporting on TV, radio and online.”

Says who? Says BIG-HEAD, easy answer, but in fact… 

Says Wrabetz, typical of many state media flunkeys around the world – unable to distinguish between fact and opinion.

In fact their reactions become ever more strident, a clear indication that these hacks think the publicly-owned media is owned by the hacks rather than the public! 

ORF editorial board member Dieter Bornemann described the attacks on the broadcaster by its own supervisory body as “a new low in media policy.“

Jawohl. How dare supervisors imagine they’re meant to supervise?

Armin Wolf, one of ORF’s most well-known television presenters, said that it was not within the board’s remit to deliver warnings or dismiss individual reporters.

So whose ‘remit’ is it, to stop leftists abusing their highly paid position to foist their own views on the people who pay those salaries?

Armin Wolf seems wilfully blind to the fact that Steger and others are ‘judging’ these tax-paid hacks (including himself!) not as ‘party representatives…’‘

BUT as the AUSTRIAN PEOPLE’S REPRESENTATIVES!

They are, I repeat, elected, UNLIKE Wolf and the other word-peddlers. 

But it’s not just Herr Steger’s current warning to OTR to shape up that’s likely inspired such irrational vitriol. 

The report tells us that the FPÖ party has long campaigned to do away with the licensing free that funds the broadcaster.

Aha!

Turn off the tap and the hacks would have to find work elsewhere, and I’m sure there are leftwing media in Austria who’d take them in.

But then they’d no longer have the camouflage of public service. As propagandists for pro-crimmigrant employers, they’d be seen for what they are. 

However, things could get to be even more fun for the flunkeys.

…Austria’s far-left president, Alexander Van der Bellen, has rushed to the defence of media hacks paid from the public purse whom the FPO patriot party has accused of bias.

Displaying its own impeccable talent for partisan bias, the Leftal, sorry, The Local, their report whitewashes Bellen’s Enemy Within ideology by dubbing him a ‘liberal ecologist.’

Yeah, right.

“There’s a place where lies become news – it’s the ORF” – that’s what Strache posted on social media about the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation.

Despite the constitutional expectation that presidents exercise ceremonial duties and not interfere in politics, The Leftal boasts that Bellen has already intervened to try to keep the FPOe in line more than once.

Keeping them in line?

Whose ‘line’ are patriots supposed to toe?

Bellen’s? Or the Berlin/Brussels line?

The EuroCommissars and their leftist satraps made no secret of their joy when Bellen won –

Sigmar Gabriel, the German vice-chancellor who leads his country’s centre-left Social Democrats, expressed agreement and heartfelt relief.

Victory for Van der Bellen and the left is a sigh of relief for Europe 

– and he has served them faithfully ever since.

I obviously don’t get to see ORF Austria’s state media, but have today been reading up on it.

“I can promise you one thing: I will … do everything to ensure that ORF is reformed, finally becomes a public institution, finally reports objectively and in a neutral way, and that the coercive fee is done away with,” Strache said…

The FPO has long argued that ORF has a left-wing bias. The main board that oversees the organization’s work is mostly composed of political appointees, and the government nominates some of those board members directly. The current director general, Alexander Wrabetz, is a Social Democrat.

Normal people everywhere must applaud the FPO plan to rid Austrians of the license fee albatross slung around their necks…

…and make ORF compete on a level playing field with media that don’t get to leech off the public purse.

As to the extent of bias, if ORF is anywhere near as downright dishonest as Germany’s state media…
