    Good For Will Smith!

Having already touched on the absurd Oscars…

…despite my disinclination to waste time on the affront to democratic values – awards bestown on self-regarding celebrities…

Lady Gaga hingga Youn Yuh Jung Bakal Jadi Presenter Oscar 2022

…by fellow-members of the show-biz ‘elite’ in which the paying public get no vote!

…I now have to return briefly to Hollywood…

    ..

Will Smith tampar Chris Rock di Panggung Oscar. Will Smith menjadi trending di media sosial setelah dirinya menampar komedian Chris Rock di panggung Academy Awards.

    …to applaud Will Smith.

I don’t know much about that black actor, though seem to recall he was fun to watch in those action sci-fi comedies he did with Tommy Lee Jones.

Today’s BBC news showed him taking a quite effective swing…

…at some MC bum who took the mick about Smith’s wife’s medical condition.

    (Alopecia)

At any time, that would merit a sock on the kisser.

    Before a worldwide tv audience?

    Good on ya, Will!

PS – predictably, UK Pravda was awful.
The first report I saw brought in an American ‘show-biz expert’ almost crying about Smith’s admirable move, which inexplicably upset him.
And hour later, 5pm Jakarta time, they had a woman, more balanced about the sock, but wittering about the ‘politics of black women’s hair,’ for pity’s sakes!

    Osteria Francescana? Gimana Wartegku?

Shock news on tv tonight, just before I turn in, with an eatery in the Italian city of Modena apparently winning the title of the ‘World’s Best Restaurant! ‘

    The Winner! Osteria Francescana

    ——

No disrespect to the Osteria Francescana – never heard of it, to be frank! – but who the heck gets to vote on these awards?

Not you, I’ll bet, any more than I.

It’s like the Oscars, all us folks who spend their dollars and quids and euros and yen that make movies a success – we never get a vote! The decision’s made by a pack of poncey celebs and plutocrats.

And the less said about the Cannes Film Festival the better, a playground for pseudo-intellectuals and posers.

    ooooooooooooooooo

    warteg

    Jakarta warteg

    ——–

I suppose my local Jakarta warteg didn’t get a look-in, despite its prices being much more affordable ( two bucks for a big filling meal!) and its hour of opening far longer – the Osteria shuts at 9.30pm, according to internet info!

But no complaints from me – the warteg is a pleasant, friendly little place and has no need of gawping crowds – they’d make it hard to get one of its maybe twenty seats!

I wonder exactly how much a pizza, a coffee and a cake for two would cost in that Osteria?.
Not far off a week’s wages for your average working man is a good guess.
These contests are only for the rich.
You are probably better off in your humble warteg ( that’s a street-food place, yes?) not only for the value for money but the sort of people you’re sitting beside.
      No toffs, I’ll bet.

'Sniper' Shot Down! Oscars Illustrate Gap Between People and Gilded Elite

Barely a mention of the best box-office draw! Typical of the Hollywood snobbocracy, which chose to diss the movie-goers who provide them with their glitterati life-style, the Oscars all but ignored American Sniper.

    elite arrogance-s

Even EuroNews this morning felt obliged to mention this bizarre failure to recognise talent, a blatant PC bias against a film that celebrates patriotism.

The in-crowd mind-set is sick, as I noted previously.

Hollywood stinks, of treason. You are right on target with this.
But there’s a new movie coming out about Vietnam. Maybe you can plug it because it finally tries to set the record straight. I’ll give you the link to where you can find out more about it.
