‘What you all know but most people don’t know?’
How stupid a statement is that?
Who said it, Bovis, Butthead or Biden?

There’s not much else you can say, when somebody says something so idiotic.
How could even Biden come out with such cr-p?

‘Woke’ Is A Past Tense Verb, Not An Adjective – Please Use ‘Red Nazi!’

A very good article in Gatestone last week…

….about the nazi-style intolerance of the modern Left.

But although its author is an emeritus professor, and stated the case powerfully, he disappointed me by not only using but including in the title, the non-word ‘woke.’

    Image result for sleeping beauty

‘He woke the princess with a kiss.’ That means he ended her sleep, not that he turned her into a shrill young marxist bitch.

It has a meaning, the simple past tense of the verb ‘to wake.’

We should not allow it to be perverted by nitwits into an adjective…

…the meaning of which is somewhere between ‘resurrected as a tantrum-prone, clueless zombie’ and ‘indoctrinated into intolerance.’

Misusing the English language in this way is more than annoying.
As you say, ‘woke’ is a verb and always has been.
It’s only in the past year or two it’s been misused.
Who started its misuse? When? Why?
I have read that the French have an official authority to safeguard linguistic integrity and that they take their job seriously.
The problem with introducing such a body in the UK or USA is that so many academics in both countries are more interested in leftwing propagandising than in advancing academic excellence.
I expect it would end up vandalising English even more than it already has been.

What’s Worse? Jakarta Bike Ban Or Jakarta Post Bad English!

The Jakarta administration and city police are decided on barring motorcycles from entering the city’s main thoroughfares – Jl. Sudirman, Jl. Gatot Subroto and Jl. Rasuna Said…

Bad Jakarta bikers- I’m not fussed if they get banned from main roads, but I would be delighted if they were banned from sidewalks!

….in an attempt to reduce traffic congestion in the capital.

One assumes the Jakarta Post hack means they have decided to bar the bikes. The clumsy English gets no better.

A meeting between city officials on June 7 concluded about the need to ban motorcycles from the three main streets..

Does this poor scribbler mean they concluded there is a need?

    And on it goes…

“…We are going to hold another meeting to discuss further about it,” Budiyanto said on Monday, declining provide details on the plan.

Even my slothful teen students, back when I was an English teacher at one of Jakarta’s many language schools knew that you don’t discuss about things.

You can talk about things, think about things, but you don’t discuss about things. The preposition is redundant, incorrect! The Jakarta Post editorial staff should call a meeting of their hacks to discuss the problem –

NB –  NOT discuss ABOUT it.
