Minol Dilarang? Bright Morning Here But Dark Age Looms!

It’s a fine morning out there, and in here breakfast is being prepared.

Later I must get going and find a computer store, to install my latest Kapersky anti-virus. These modern computers don’t have a slot into which the disk fits, so I need the assistance of somebody who knows his (or preferably her!) way around technology.

However, before heading out, a word on some news spotted in Republika.com.

Although I’m sure there are some sensible people among the ranks of Indonesia’s PPP  – United Development Party  – (the current Minister of Religious Affairs, Lukman, is a member and he’s a vast improvement on his predecessor, the unspeakable Suryadharma Ali, who was and is also PPP) its followers rarely say things which meet with my approval.

Thus no surprise to read the outburst from Arwani Thomafi, who sits on the House of Representatives Commission V.

Arwani has just declared that the introduction of nationwide prohibition is the responsibility of the public and law enforcement officials.

Infantilising the population, denying that they are mature enough to decide for themseleves what they wish to drink, is, alas, only to be expected from the political establishment here.

We have, even in Jakarta, civic leaders who reckon all good little boys and girls, including adults, should be tucked up in their cosy wee beds by midnight!

‘You’re Only An Adult! It’s Past Your Bedtime!’ Jakarta Rules, OK?

But Arwani did surprise me by denying that the Prohibition Bill, now reaching its final stage in committee, is sectarian.

The principle of the prohibition of minol by Parliament is not because of the religious aspect, but in of health, social and economic terms.

( minol  = minuman alkohol = alcoholic beverages)

    • The impact of these negative effects, in the field of criminality, that is what concerns us, not a matter of Islam and non-Islam..

Well, that’s like banning cars because some drivers are reckless!

So that’s not how others see this pending legislation.

    Shariah Controlled Zone_thumb[1]

Creeping Shariah is one alternative perception, dragooning grown-ups by a Big Brother state which perceives a glass of cold beer on a hot day as haram – and is not satisfied with the normal age-restrictions on beer-sales and the already draconian restrictions on where we can buy such appealing products.

Creeping Shariah,’ Warns Prof. Muhammed, As Jakarta Dims!

And thanks to Arwani, we learn that it’s not so ‘creeping.’ He boasts that there are numerous regencies (local government areas) all over the archipelago that have introduced such intolerant diktats, including Papua Manokwari,  South Jogjakarta, Sleman, South Kalimantan Banjarbaruand provinces...

    The Sharia Hell of Aceh!

    The Sharia Hell of Aceh!

…and of course let’s not forget the focus of brutal bigotry in Indonesia, Aceh, where the joys of shariah law are displayed to perfection in our photograph of a cowardly masked fanatic beating a young girl before an audience of baying savages.

Who Calls People Names? Jakarta Councillors Shame Their City!

Relaxing tonight, off to buy a book or two tomorrow, through the hot and turbulent Jakarta I always feel at home in. It takes a bit of getting used to, but if you don’t love Jakarta, you’ll leave soon enough.
I’ve been here for more than a decade and a half!
So I hate to see it shamed by loudmouthed louts.
The sorry bleating we heard from an IslamoNazi whiner a few months ago, immortalised in our headline –

Fanatic Islamist Wails At Christian Governor – “He Calls People Names!”

habib salimx   Salim Alatas, Jakarta FPI Gauleiter –

“He is not a Muslim and he is too arrogant, his words are rude and he calls people names!”

     – may well be repeated, more rationally, if the sectarian gang leader (Salim Alatas, of the FPI ) is capable of consistency.

But this time not at Ahok!

I quote from the Jakarta Globe yesterday

…council deputy speaker Abraham Lunggana of the United Development Party (PPP) interrupted, saying that Basuki was being rude to the mayor.

“Contain your emotion, sir! Don’t shout, Mr. Governor! Don’t act like a thug, Mr. Governor!” the PPP politician shouted..

This would be the same PPP leader, nick-named Lulung, whom we mentioned a while ago, a man who doesn’t scruple to join an IslamoNazi rally   –https://rossrightangle.wordpress.com/2014/10/07/jakarta-islamist-thugs-batter-defenceless-woman/  –
    – and who was last year part of a story in the Jakarta Post – Tanah Abang, the busiest commercial district in the country, is said to be run by thugs who take their orders from United Development Party (PPP) councilor Abraham “Lulung” Lunggana.  http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2014/10/01/idul-adha-livestock-merchants-brawl-with-officers-tanah-abang.html
     Anas Effendi
Lulung’s unpleasant outburst was in response to a blunt question – not an insult -aimed by Basuki (aka Governor Ahok) to the Mayor of West Jakarta, Anas Effendi, about  an enormous amount of money spent for school equipment which, according to the schools, they neither need nor asked for…whose prices are highly inflated from retail listings. Jakarta police say they are investigating that case.
    ahok Ahok
Sounds like Ahok’s questions were worth asking. But if you question some things too closely here, you step on sensitive toes, it seems.
Insulting the Governor, who is the best thing that’s happened to Jakarta this century, was apparently the ‘in’ thing at the meeting.
“This governor is a thug,” shouted one politician. “Don’t pressure your men,” shouted another.
Reporters in the meeting room also heard the words “stupid” and “dog” being inveighed toward the governor….
    The tantrum brats were irrepressible!
The room erupted into a shouting match with council members shouting and cussing at the governor, while others banged on the tables and doors creating more racket.
Methinks Jokowi regards the moron element’s antics as water off a duck’s back.
At least the Islamonazi was honest enough to admit his hostility is rooted in the basest anti-Christian bias.
These clowns ought to skip the pretence that Ahok has done anything wrong.
Although in their view, I suppose, he has, born the wrong colour, wrong race, wrong religion.

Friend of Fanatics, ‘Occupy Ali’ Digs In Against Change!

    Suryadharma Ali, that alarming heresy-hunter…

    ali heretical

…whom President SBY tolerated on his Cabinet for years despite outlandish extremist outbursts, may now face police action to remove him from the premises of his political party, which has disowned him.

Former Miss Indonesia Finalists – Knees OK!

Har, Har, Har, De, Har, Har, Har! ArchBigot of Jakarta Speaks – No Comment!

Amazingly, it took investigation by the KPK, Indonesia’s Anti-Corruption Commission, to get him to quit his key post as Minister of Religious Affairs. President SBY never fired the fanatic.

His successor as Minister, Lukman, from the same ‘Islamic’ United Development Party, the PPP, has in his first few months in office, shown a seriously sane, refreshing approach to the job, breaking bread with members of persecuted minorities like the Shia and Ahmadiyah.

    main-lukman-hakim4 Lukman

Jakarta – Bigot ‘Scholars’ Rant Against Religious Liberty!

Lukman, whom Ali has declared ‘fired’ from the PPP, also added the Baha’i faith to the list of tolerated religions (yes, I know it’s peculiar that any government in any country gets to decide who can worship freely, but leave that for the moment!)

…Suryadharma loyalists decided to occupy the party office.

Now a party spokesman has said ‘we will report him to the police [for occupying the office]…I regret the occupation of the office, which is an act of thuggery, which is apparently the way Suryadharma prefers to solve the conflict. He called the meeting last night illegal, but his claimed position as chairman is also illegal.”   http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/news/ppp-chairman-suryadharma-refuses-step-office-occupied/

As I recall this oleaginous individual gloating over religious minority citizens submitting to (of course entirely voluntary!) ‘conversion’  – or ‘repentance,’ as the nasty bigots here call it, as if choosing alternative ways of worshipping God Almighty is a sin  – I can only savour the prospect of the cops dragging him out.

But will he maintain his recalcitrant pose long enough for that to come to pass?
