Kasihan Kali Jodo – Ahok’s ‘Legacy’ At Risk From Thuggery?

One of the few instances of ill-judgement on Jakarta Governor Ahok’s part (in my opinion) was the destruction of Kali Jodo, that seedy little kampung in North Jakarta.

    =

It could have been a great nightlife centre – instead it was emptied

    =

I covered it at the time…

Wong Cilik, Ahok, TNI – Tragedi Kali Jodo

    …and still think he blundered.

What was the point in needlessly getting rid of the clutch of cheap bars there, and not only those but also a large number of poor people who lived in and around them. Surely the fact that his action was cheered on by Islamist bigots, who were and remained his sworn enemies, should have made him think twice?

A month or so ago, I was in a taxi up that way and passed the place. I had to ask the cabbie if that was really Kali Jodo. It was, he said, and acknowledged that it had ‘indeed changed.’

A fancy looking community centre  – or ‘publicly integrated child friendly space (RPTRA)‘ – had replaced the cramped alleys, and teens were flocking there that day for some event.

    All fine and dandy?

Sure, until I read Kompas  – 25/4 – where it turns out that ‘preman,‘ criminals, are doing their best (worst?) to take control. Juru Parkir Liar Kuasai RPTRA Kalijodo – Kompas.com

People who want to leave their motorbikes in the parking lot are being forced to pay a 50% mark-up on the fee. And illicit vendors have set up shop on the grassy field adjacent, under the ‘protection’ of persons named in the article.

    So much for reformation.

    =

War on bars, Kali Jodo’s final days

    =

Ahok’s show of force  – cops and soldiers to back up the coerced evictions – won him some plaudits from the oh-so-respectable elements in Jakarta, with whom, alas, he shares a certain priggish streak, as when he was publicly appalled by a bikini party.  ”Outrageous” Activity in Jakarta Pools? OMG – BIKINIS!

    Ahok

    =

But it went down badly with the wong cilik, the little people, those without much in the way of resources. And there are a lot more of them than there are self-righteous rich, in this teeming city.

I wouldn’t say their dismay caused his downfall. Islamist bigotry was the major cause of that, and we must steel ourselves for more of that horror to come, with ‘shariah nightlife’ on the cards.

Hey, Jakarta Girls! Make The Most Of Kartini Day!

But things could have been different.

    ——————-oooooooooooooo

    PS

Ahok has since said he is asking relevant authorities to get the situation sorted, -he reckons the preman2 don’t realise he’s still governor, till the official hand-over later this year.

And the new deputy governor, whose alarming scheme to transform Jakarta with ‘shariah nightlife’ is a topic of fretful conversation all over town, has weighed in too.  Sandiaga Uno sensibly agreed that Ahok must be supported in efforts to curb lawlessness.

But then – if my translation is not skewed by my early rise this fine Jakarta morning –  has put forward a plan to reform the preman2 as security guards.

Aaah, training foxes to guard hen-houses?

I’d have thought, given his enthusiasm for shariah, he might have proposed a fine old-fashioned shariah flogging…

    =

    —-

…with a hooded brute whipping the convicted poor (rarely if ever the convicted rich) before a slobbering mob – after all, that’s what happens in Aceh, the only province of Indonesia where shariah ‘law’ prevails.

Actually, corporal punishment for real criminals is no bad idea.

    BUT…

    000

    The Sharia Hell of Aceh!

What causes loathing and revulsion among decent people in Aceh is that normal human behaviour, like a girl sitting on a park bench holding hands with her boy-friend, is criminalised.

    But that’s shariah!

Preman2 Timor Leste – Savages Amok In England!

The gang of 20 from East Timor, in south east Asia, were caught on CCTV carrying out their attack in Lincoln city centre on May 15.

    =====Lincoln Attack

    ——-

Lincoln Crown Court heard how the gang punched and kicked the victim until he lay unconscious before jumping on his head.

Eight of the gang members seen in the footage have been given a prison term for their role in the attack.

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/739001/Immigrants-gang-attack-Lincoln-city-centre

For you English readers, preman is the Indonesian word for thugs. Why do I use Indonesian in my headline?

Just to alert local readers here to a topic that might interest them. East Timor ( Timor Leste) was, after all, a province of Indonesia till just about sixteen years ago, when it broke away.

But I’d say a better question is-

WHAT THE HELL ARE these Timorese scumbags doing in the UK?

And why were those convicted given just a few years behind bars?

They should be deported, or put down.

Kali Jodo – Think Again, Ahok! Why Delight IslamoNazis?

I’ve posted on Kali Jodo before, more than once.

    —-

    silhouetee

    Aduh! Adieu Kali Jodo

It’s a relatively short stretch of waterside road in Northwest Jakarta, which – as you can see from the night-time photo – is visually impressive.

From a distance! At night! By day, not so impressive, but it has potential, and has always struck me as slightly reminiscent of the promenade in Nice!.

Its demise has been declared imminent for more than a year, so nice to know it’s still there. But maybe not for long, and this acceleration towards destruction has been ‘justified’ in a most illogical manner.

    ——-

    =======================

According to Rancah Post, Jakarta’s Governor Ahok has chosen to use a fatal accident on nearby Daan Mogot, a main road down which I passed only yesterday, as his excuse to speed up plans to ‘crack down.’

    ———–

    ahok Ahok

    …..

The driver is said to have been ‘downing beers in Kali Jodo.

That may be true, but are the bars, never mind the entertainment areas, where someone has consumed too many drinks, instantly targetted for total devastation, every time a drunk causes a fat-acc?

    b6128-alcoholicsilhouette

    —–

Were that so, there’d be precious few taverns in the town, any town anywhere.

Ahok is usually a cornucopia of common sense, a good governor, but this time I can’t go along with his reasoning. Alas, Kali Jodo’s reputation as an area of gambling and prostitution means that few folk will spring to its defence.
The report describes the small area as having at least 60 buildings used as a karaoke home to about 15 to 20 prostitutes in each of the cafes.

Again, to declare war on bars that have 15 to 20 hookers hanging about would logically mean shutting down quite a lot of the five-star hotels in Jakarta.

    stock-illustration-30527208-silhouettes-of-beautiful-pin-up-girls-1950s-style

I once took a girl-friend to a very posh hotel to celebrate my birthday. We got there at around 7pm, ordered a couple of very expensive drinks in an almost empty bar, and were mildly amazed when, shortly after 8pm, it was suddenly inundated by about a hundred kupu2 malam – night butterflies, as the euphemism here goes!

    ——

    6e6cb-hypocrisyofoursociety

    ——.

The thing is, those ladies were hoping to cater to rich people, affluent tourists or local businessmen. Kalijodo’s little watering-holes are patronised by humble folk, off-duty ojeks, the motor-bike-cabbies, or equally off-duty satpams, the ubiquitous security guards, working men for whom the prices are kept sane, a bottle of Bintang costing not mucn more than you pay in a supermarket.

Knock those little cafes down, you’ll not stop prostitution, just shift it, and you’ll deprive the poorest section of Jakarta’s working population of bars they can afford to drink in. And there aren’t very many of those.

Among the many who will not speak up for the putative dispossessed are Jakarta’s IslamoNazis, the FPI (Islamic Defenders Front)

    Far from it!

…according to Chairman of the Islamic Defenders Front, Ahmad Shobri Lubis. “As community members we are ready to support the government. As long it’s for a good cause, we have no problem if asked to help the police and the military.”

    ——

    alubis Lubis

    ————————

    ITMA again!

Lubis’ idea of a good cause was exemplified when he exhorted a rabid pack of primitive fanatics to ‘kill, kill, kill’ members of the peaceful Ahmadiyah minority. Watch the brute’s hate-rant here- . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7RLCXNdKF4

And the brutal Lubis’s gangster group have made violent threats against Kali Jodo in the past.

    Jakarta’s IslamoNazis Threaten More Thuggery

     However, back to the report.

But it seems the effort to police Kalijodo will not run smoothly – thugs and the people in the vicinity are rumored to be against Ahok’s plan to curb the place.

Funny that the report only uses the word thugs once they have already finished covering the FPI aspect.

    ———-

    anfpi2

Thugs perfectly sums up the FPI!

But let not the IslamoNazis get away with telling the media they are motivated by ‘good causes.’

There’s at least some element of revenge in there too. The report offers insight into why they won’t try one of their all-too-frequent amok-runs against fellow-citizens…

IslamoNazis V Freedom-Fighters? – Some Chicken, Some Neck

FPI in West Java – ‘Let’s Burn Out the Orphans!’

…not without a powerful police escort.

According to the Commissioner Krishna Murti in his book entitled ‘Geger Kalijodo’, Kalijodo is guarded by thugs known as Tiger Cubs, whose duty is to maintain and supervise the practice of gambling and prostitution in Kalijodo.

Chaps not to antagonise, clearly. But sit back and enjoy the next extract, which is ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL!

The toughness of this group was previously tested when they repulsed an FPI invasion… At that time, the FPI plunged headlong onto the motorway after being overwhelmed by forces armed with sharp weapons.

    —————-

fpi_noble life martyr deatht ‘FPI. Noble Life or Martyr’s Death’ – or scuttle across the road, sharpish!

    .WOW!

That episode deserves to be immortalised, not just in the Commissioner’s book but in a movie.

It would be watched avidly and repeatedly in many communities across the archipelago which have been the scene of white-shirt thug depradations.

    http://www.rancahpost.co.id/20160250728/dijaga-anak-macan-fpi-dan-ahok-siap-serbu-kalijodo/

Hasil gambar untuk tiger cubs playing

Another report adds to the yummy yarn.

It didn’t stop there, according to Krishna, the  Cubs had infiltrated their men in among the FPI to monitor their movements….

So these guys are not just muscle. According to Krishna, the Tiger Cubs have a neat organizational structure..  http://wartakota.tribunnews.com/2016/02/12/geng-anak-macan-bikin-fpi-terbirit-birit-dari-kalijodo

Givn the FPI’s record of cowardice, notably in Sukorejo or Purwakarta, you can see why they haven’t been back to Kali Jodo, and won’t, unless they go skulking along in the shadow of a major police operation.

I do not think that the prostitution may be allowed anywhere. It is always not moral and harms the society and the women too. You do not maybe care enough about that.
I do think you are right about the hypocracy. I have been reading your blog before making this my comment and I see it was in a 5 star hotel in Jakarta where the man took the student girl.
Yes was it the same PKS man who was giving another girl much expensive gift and said to her
      ‘Dont thank me thank Allah.’
      He insults religion.
There is too many hypocracites about prostitution. Ahok is a governor who is doing much good for Jakarta but he must show us he will not chase prostitution from Kali Jodoh while lets them make much money in the big hotels on Jalan Sudirman. .

Pikir Dulu, Shaffira! Calais Bukan Tempat Penungsi2, Tapi Parasit2 Dan Preman2!

If I suddenly announced that I was taking time off from my normal routine…

…to waltz across town to some part of Jakarta with a reputation for thuggery and sexual violence (although there aren’t many I’m aware of – Jakarta’s a nice city!) on a mission to make life more comfortable for dissimulators engaged in criminality, decent Indonesians would be rightly shocked.

Many would suggest pulang aja, just head back where I came from.

And that’s how many Brits will feel about this ill-advised young lady with a sweet smile, featured as the star of a long-winded BBC  report that is itself dishonest, describing the Calais ‘Jungle’ as a ‘refugee camp.’  http://www.bbc.com/indonesia/majalah/2015/11/151125_trensosial_kabardariinggris_migran

    ———

Most Brits understand that the lawless rabble there are NOT ‘refugees’ at all. Nor are they forced to reside there.

    Real refugees seek safety.

The Jungle Jerks are transparently country-shoppers!

    ==================

    • =

The thugs and rapists  Even Guardian Can’t Miss Calais Crimmigrant Rape Menace! and illegal immigrants who infest that Jungle MUST have passed through several safe countries to get to Calais.

France itself is a safe country.

But few of the Calais swarm have applied for ‘asylum.’ Indeed, when French authorities remove the savages to other parts of France… France spends £1million a year to fly migrants away from Calais… they return as fast as they can, despite the fact that conditions in the camp are very dirty.

Those last few words are a quote from Shaffira Gayatri, an Indonesian student —–who has just completed her studies at the University of Warwick, England.

    ——-

Okay, we’ve all done some foolish things in our student years, even those of us who attended reputable colleges. And Warwick is something of an apology for a university, a record of irresponsible and anti-democratic activity by marxist student louts…

    • Yet I’m reluctant to blame young Shaffira, an overseas student who is quite possibly unaware of the unpleasant and intolerant reputation her university has acquired.

Even so, we need to ask why she decided to ignore all the evidence available of the truly base character of most Calais crimmigrants…

Her excuse? She joined the volunteers through L’Auberge des Migrants, the agency focused on helping migrants who want to cross from Calais to England…

That’s aiding and abetting illegal undesirables…but…

    WAIT FOR IT!

A sudden ray of truth penetrates even the BBC, an outfit known for its bias…

Pravda-Clone BBC Won’t Let Up! More Pro-Crimmigrant Bias!

… as it admits that England is – a country which is considered better in providing welfare.

So even the state broadcasting agency, which fawns on the Calais crimmigrants …

Media Lies, Migrant Lies – But Truth Will Surely Out!

…recognises that it’s not safety ( the goal that defines ‘refugees’ but greed, that motivates them. They are simply eager to leech off British tax-payers. Economic migrants, not refugees at all.?

    In Bahasa Indonesia, PARASIT2

We have posted on this time and again…but Shaffira, who is just back in Indonesia, is honest enough to describe these poor, pathetic people in terms which highlight why Brits don’t want them.

Having colonised land to which they have no right, and chosen to live in squalid tents, they get ‘frustrated,’ Shafirra says, and many migrants often get drunk and fight.

    ==================

    In Bahasa Indonesia, PREMAN2 – anti-social thugs.

Oya, and NEITHER do the people of France!

“It’s the first time it has been so violent and we unfortunately have many colleagues injured,” said Gilles Debove of the SGP police union. 16 French police hurt in clash with Calais migrants

According to the website of L’Auberge des Migrants, The Jungle migrants come from Afghanistan, Iraq, Kurdistan, Iran, Palestine, Eritrea, Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Syria.

    —-

So look at the map, see where Calais is, on the French coast, north of Paris and explain how come ‘refugees’ choose to flit like butterflies across a selection of dozens of SAFE European lands, in order to use that northernmost French city as a launchng pad for vicious, violent attempts at illegal invasion of England.

        Pagi, Aya!
        Kenapa bicara begitu?
You ask where my conscience may be? Where is the conscience of the media that fails to remind us how these so-called ‘refugees’ ceased to have any claim to ‘refugee’ status when they passed through safe countries without claiming that status, only because they believe there are more benefits to be had in the UK?

Moreover every single one of those ‘refugees’ in Calais is free to claim ‘asylum’ right there in France!
        But how many have?
When the French have moved them away from Calais, they return there, pushing their arrogant demand illegally to cross the Channel to the UK. Vicious violence is one of their favourite methods, as you can read if you look through our previous posts.
Where is YOUR conscience, Aya, that you would want such savagery inflicted on innocent British people, as it has been, again and again, on the innocent French public and police, and on innocent truckers and law-abiding travellers?

Glad you don’t let up on this illegal immigration issue, Ross, and that you show Obama and Merkel together, because one’s as bad as the other, Obama trying to get round American law and Merkel who broke the EU rules to let them all in.

Anybody who reads what you wrote in this post, that Aya is upset about, will see that you have plenty of sources, including a British government minister and an honest refugee aid group, that confirm what you are saying.
I see you wrote it almost a year ago, so there have been lots more examples of violence, including attempted murder by ‘refugees’ since then too.

All the Americans who have experience of terrifying crimes by illegals will agree with your views wholeheartedly so I hope you keep up your truth-telling.

Where’s their conscience, Mrs. Aya? Or is it Mr. Aya?
I don’t know enough about Indonesian names so can’t say for sure which Aya is.

But I can say that Aya doesn’t know much about conscience.

Where’s the conscience of the Swedish and German media hiding crimes committed by ‘refugees?’

And where’s the conscience of Francois Hollande who is now transporting the phoney Calais ‘refugees’ to small towns and villages all over France, with his local bureaucrats even refusing to let the French villagers vote yes or no to this dangerous policy.

Some people in Europe criticise Indonesia and I don’t know enough to argue about that. I know Ross likes Indonesia so I prefer to trust Ross’s views on what goes on there.
But the truth is that it’s democracy in Europe that is being undermined, no referendums in Germany, France or Italy on letting in these aliens.
What kind of conscience do ungrateful ‘refugees’ have, who then plan murder and molest women?.

You Aya comment in Indonesia language and not in English so maybe you cannot really read what Ross is writing about these illegal and violent people in France.
If foreigner comes trying to enter Indonesia without permission visa they will be arrested and sent out away from here.
This is how it should be I think so why should the English people receive foreigner illegal coming into England?

Bravo, Polisi Jakarta! Tapi Jangan Malas Tembak Banyak Lagi!

Good to see Jakarta Police shot dead a ‘notorious’ thug identified by his victim after a brutal rape and robbery in broad daylight!

I sometimes have to criticise the constabulary here, usually for being soft on anti-social hoodlum gangs like the IslamoNazi FPI…  http://megapolitan.kompas.com/read/2013/06/07/10534748/Bentrok.dengan.FPI..,

…but  when they do a fine job, credit where credit is due.

    • congratulationssuperjobIndonesian_National_Police_General's_Visor_Hat
    • The poor young lady the beast attacked was on her way home at 4.30 pm on one of those pedestrian bridges over a busy road near Pondok Indah, where I happened to be this very morning.

Going to and fro after dark can be dodgy in any city ( though  I should say Jakarta is probably a lot safer than London) but late arvo on a Saturday?

    Shocking.

But just as we have to hear when scum get taken out in the West (think Ferguson, Missouri Darren Wilson, No Case to Answer – So Quell That Riotous Rabble! ) already some ‘expert’ is yelping at the cops.

Bambang Widodo Umar, an expert from the University of Indonesia, criticized the police’s actions in killing ITH.
“The police are allowed to open fire at a crime suspect with the intention of paralyzing but not killing,” he said.

    ——

No photo in the JP, so I found this

    ——–

Strangely, the Jakarta Post declines to tell us what exactly Bambang is ‘expert’ in! Shedding tears over vermin?

According to Bambang, had the police found the suspect more quickly, they could have received accolades. The shooting, however, might now taint the achievement.

Hate to say it, Bambang, but you’re wrong!

Accolades will be forthcoming, from Jakartans of all walks of life, not least those who knew the deceased, again not clearly identified in the JP report, except by those initials ITH, as a notorious thug dreaded by local residents, including vendors near the bridge.

The brute tried to kill one of the arresting officers with a machete, but that doesn’t stop Bambang burbling on.
“In fact, the police shot him to death in an imbalanced situation, in which the suspect tried to fight against a number of officers alone,” Bambang said. http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2015/11/28/alleged-rapist-pedestrian-shot-dead-resisting-arrest.html

So? Are we meant to award ITH brownie points?

    • 3c1b1-get_real_big
    • Having added my own little song of praise to the many voices all over town undoubtedly applauding these policemen…

    congratters

….I would only add that it would be nice to see similar action by the polisi here when they come under sustained and vicious assault by evil sectarian thugs.
