Starts Today, At PRJ – Jakarta Fair 2018
Just a reminder, in case anyone in our lovely city was unaware.
=
=
With Ramadhan going on at present, it will be no fun for anyone fasting, the weather here being spectacularly hot this week, and who wants to wander about a vast broiling fairground without a cool drink now and then?
Even as a non-faster, I doubt I will be attending. though I’ll try to get a schedule of the bands and singers for those who are interested. But having gone along annually for my first fifteen or so years here, I frankly see little reason to look at electronics and motor-bikes and fabrics that I can see anytime in places easier to get to.
Although the SPGs do make it fun.
Yet, like the products they promote, pretty young ladies can be seen everywhere one goes in Jakarta.

Glamor Day, PRJ! Dangdut Beauties – Fitri, Citti, Putri -10th July
One of my commenters reminded me that I have an annual tradition of letting readers know what music is scheduled for each day of the Jakarta Fair, so I have done my duty and located a link.

Not a lot of dangdut, sad to say, but some, at least, like that mentioned a little while ago –
SMN Dangdut? PRJ Jakarta Fair – 19th June! Oya, Ayu Ting Ting Juga!
– PLUS, notably Fitri Karlina, Citti Citata, and Putri Sinam!
If you attend on 10th July, you should enjoy the music of those beautiful songstresses.
If you are a reggae, punk or rock fan, best stick to the little Gambir stage, at the back – much of the main stage schedule caters to trendy pop!
Please note, this is from the link, and I can’t guarantee that any performers will be on stage on the days stated therein.

SMN Dangdut? PRJ Jakarta Fair – 19th June! Oya, Ayu Ting Ting Juga!
[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[
I searched diligently for pictorial evidence of SMN Dangdut, advertised as a highlight for the Jakarta Fair on 19th June.
Certainly, if those yummy gals are likely to comprise the line-up on stage a week from today, I’d say it’s well worth the trip across town just to watch their voices carefully!
But there is little to be found via Google Search, so which, if any, of those delightful figures will adorn the PRJ, truly I don’t know.
BTW, quick quiz- which one do you like best?
My fave would have to be the cutie with the long black hair in the orange and black outfit.
However, the other singer that day is famous indeed.

Ayu Ting Ting!

Ted
Now I see why you live in Indonesia, Ross.
I would go along with your choice of the girl in the black and orange dress, she is a hottie.
Even so, the one near the left end, blue dress with flowery patterns, she would be my first choice.LikeLike

My choice, same as yours Ted, but that sultry one Ross likes is lovely too and to tell the truth, they are all fantastic reasons to consider Indonesia as a retirement destination.

Siapa Mau Ke PRJ? Jakarta Fair 2016…
Big day here, in that my tukang gado2 has returned from his long Ramadhan break, so I can easily obtain my fave spicy salad again.
Big decision time, too, whether to go all the way up to Kemayoran in North Jakarta, at least a two hour journey, even in this quiet week when many if not most citizens have left town for the Idul Fitri holidays…
……………
…………..
…or not.
I have faithfully made my way up there for the last sixteen years, but it has got progressively less alluring, with most of the music I like best, i.e dangdut…
……………..
…………………
…diminished in number or relegated to the small Gambir stage with the main ‘name’ bands – generally pop/teen – hogging the larger entertainment area.
I don’t know…
Sales Promotion Girls at a previous PRJ
——-
- All those pretty SPGs are nice to look at, but heck, there are plenty of gorgeous gals everywhere in Jakarta – there’s a new one just started work in my local mini-mart – just as attractive as the PRJ’s sales promotion girls.
Serious thought required…
But to help you think for yourselves, I append the schedule of events below…
oooooooooooooooooo
On careful inspection, the only dangdut concert I can discern falls on 14th July, with the lovely Fitri Karlina…
—
…though I see there’s an extra treat in store for those who attend that evening, little cute Lesti…
Lesti
—-
…whom I praised – and voted for –
Ayo, Lesti! Maksud Hatiku, Kamu Harus Menang!
– when she was triumphing on tv’s Dangdut D’Academy.
And I see next Thursday I should be free to go walkabout.
So let me contemplate that interesting prospect.

Reggae, PRJ, Sunday, 5th July!
It may be the Fourth of July, but since Obama’s Ambassador here isn’t celebrating After Obama’s 4th July Kow-Tow, Now France Shifts Bastille Day! and I have no particular plans either, I’m just waiting for my welcome weekend visitor.
But do you like reggae?
If that’s your idea of fun, best to get over to the Jakarta Fair tomorrow. According to their calendar of events http://www.jakartafair.co.id/2015/page/calendar … there’s a Reggae Day on the Gambir Stage – that’s the smaller one at the back of the exhibition complex.
The fair opens earlier on weekends, so maybe it will start at noon, but you need to ring up and make sure!

PRJ, SPG, Plus Indiana Whiskey – Jakarta ‘Stoner’ Gems!
I’ve liked the Stones for years and years, took my offspring to see them in London about a quarter of a century ago, so would be truly happy if they included Indonesia in their next World Tour.
However, that is a possible event, not at all guaranteed.
————
———–
So yesterday, as always, every year, I undertook the long trek to the Jakarta Fair – to see the ‘Tribut Rolling Stones!’
As it says in the Good Book, ‘blessed are they that expecteth nothing, for they shall not be disappointed.’
Actually, it doesn’t say that, but there is more than a grain of truth there, especially in Jakarta!
Not knowing how good or bad the tribute might be, I settled down at the Panggung Gambir, in the oldest part of the PRJ complex, and at 8pm the show began.
===========
ooooooooo
I should mention I was footsore by that time, having wandered round and round, admiring the Sales Promotion Girls, of whom the above are splendid examples.
But to the music.
It wasn’t bad at all. And all the other fans in the audience agreed. Apparently there are many here who appreciate the Stones – these afficionados call themselves ‘Stoners.’
There were four bands, of varying qualities, so I will only name the best.
Indiana Whiskey, whose singer, pictured on-stage further up the page, has perfected his imitation of Sir Mick Jagger’s stance, gestures and gyrations.
His colleagues complement his performance ably.
And that band did more of my fave Stones’ hits than any of the others. ‘Brown Sugar,’ ‘Satisfaction…’
—–
—
….and the song I love best, ‘Ruby Tuesday. ‘
I doubt any of them read my writings, but I will make one modest suggestion for improvement.
Get the words right!
Instead of finishing RT with its third verse, said singer simply repeated the second.
But that’s okay.

PRJ – Miss Jakarta Fair 2015 – Monday 15th June!
Ha!
Just got back, having gone forth to help somebody out for ‘half an hour,’ so I was led to believe, but two hours later I was still helping!
No worries, always better to be out and about than in and lassitudinous.
ooooooooooooooo
——-
I was just going to post on the above, the hours during which you can enjoy the Jakarta Fair – and the price of tickets.
Monday is the cheapest day!
Then I noticed that on Monday, 15th June, the grand final of the Miss Jakarta Fair contest is due to be held.
————-
……………….
And here they are!
Alas, I can’t be there.
Give the gals my best wishes if you can!
Here’s the link to the events calendar again, if you need it. http://www.jakartafair.co.id/2015/page/calendar
