    Making Jakarta Even Duller – Here We Go Again!

    Jakarta is a resilient city, or at least its people are.

    I was out among them again yesterday, a vital shopping trip (as all such shopping trips are meant to be these days!) on the TransJakarta Busway, changing at Harmoni…

    .

    A fave old photo of Jakarta’s Harmoni junction, decades ago!

    .

    …then all the way to Mangga Besar.

    I suppose it’s the same buzz we all get, as good as it gets in this hideous ‘New Abnormal,’ a morale-boost just from being among other human beings, albeit you can’t shake a guy’s hand or hug a girl.

    But then I came home…

    .

    .

    …my bag full of necessities, including a supply of my hard-to-get favourite cigarette brand, and tuned into the news.

    And there we go again!

    This weekend is Idul Adha, when Muslims slaughter loads of animals, mostly goats …

    .

    ..

    and not a few cows too!

    …and since it’s perfectly legal to do so, I have no intention of offering adverse comment thereon.

    Certainly not of interfering in their activities!

    But WHY must the City Government of Jakarta interfere with mine, or other non-participants?

    .

    .

    The Jakarta Post link below provides a long list of shut-down fun…

    …..entertainment establishments, such as saunas, nightclubs, massage parlors, discotheques, spas, karaoke bars, pubs, pool halls and other tourist attractions…

    …which must be closed one day prior to and on the day of Idul Adha.

    The Jakarta Tourism Agency spokesman, a Mr. Cucu (pronounced choo-choo, not cuckoo) is quoted as saying that discos in fancy hotels (four-starred [or above) are ‘exempt from this policy…’

    https://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2020/07/28/jakarta-administration-tells-entertainment-establishments-to-close-on-idul-adha.html

    .

    .

    …..which prompts my perennial question why the richer folk are allowed to enjoy themselves, but the poorer folk aren’t.

    But really, it’s the sheer irrationality of such sectarian banning that needs to be examined.

    Why should those of us who are not into killing animals not be free to dance or play pool.

    Not that much of that harmless fun is available anyway at the moment in Jakarta, thanks to the Chinese Virus!

    But EVERYBODY knows that dancing…

    ..

    …other such harmless pastimes do not disturb those outside the dance-hall or pool-hall – unless they desperately want to be disturbed.

    I don’t expect an answer. I have been asking for yesrs and never had one.

    Except high-handed retorts about ‘respect.’

    .

    .

    Obedience to coercive rules does not equate to respect.

    In fact, coercion has a tendency to diminish respect.

    The agency will enforce strict punishments on business owners caught violating the regulations during the Idul Adha celebrations, he added.

      It is very sad that the killjoy cannot be happy without taking other peoples happiness away.
      It is childish and intolerant and I wish they may grow up someday.

      My friend just now tells me you write again about this Jakarta killjoy problem.
      Good you say this again.
      No reason why they must stop you or me to have fun and it is very bad they do diskriminasi to let rich hotel guest have fun but other people not.
      Jakarta government gets it all wrong.

      All part of a cunning strategy to make us stay at home?
      That would be nice but no, you are right, it is just more intolerance of other people’s rights.

      The Jakarta Government would be better doing something to stop all the people who leave Jakarta for Java home town and take virus with them.

    Ayatollahs’ Apparatchik Talks ‘Respect?’ To A Woman?

    ‘Nobody should ever threaten an Iranian, because Iranians don’t respond well to threats. Iranians respond to respect.’

    That was the despotic ayatollahs’ flunkey, their Foreign Minister, sounding off against America during a feeble France24 ‘interview’ on Saturday.

    ‘Intimidation is not acceptable,’ he droned.

    The scarfless bint interviewing the man, Mariam Pizadeh, could at any point have called him out – how dare this wretched lackey talk about lack of ‘respect’ or how wrong ‘intimidation’ is…

    …when his masters in Tehran, the entire regime he serves, every day treats every Iranian woman with DISrespect, bullying them into wearing the shrouds of second-class citizenship.

    That’s intimidation.

    But then an employee of France24 is much more at ease listening to a tyranny’s servant carping against America than actually challenging her interviewee on the built-in injustice (against her own sex)…

      That is a real shame, not that we expect any France24 employee to confront a representative of the Islamist dictators.
      What is so bad is how she would misrepresent the present regime as in any way ‘reformed.’
      End sharia to give women equal rights and then Mlle. Mariam may talk about a ‘modern new model.’

      As you say, how dare she!
      Iran under the ayatollah theocracy is a blot on the world landscape.
      Not once has the regime risked a genuine free election, or even a referendum on the form of government.
      She never thought to ask her guest about where he got his authority to speak for the people of Iran.
      He has none, only a license from the unelected rulers.

    Like CNN, UK Guardian Sees Public ‘As Stupid As Sh-t!’

    After our morning piece on the latest example of the BBC’s brazen bias…

    Blatant Bias On the BBC – Fire James Robbins!

    …it’s back to the media again.

    Although we are taking aim at the Guardian, the BBC is very much part of the situation which prompts us publish this.

    ooooooooooo.      Hasil gambar untuk john bonfield CNN

    John Bonfield, CNN elitist who disses voters as ‘stupid as sh-t!

    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/jun/30/cnn-producer-calls-trump-crazy-voters-stupid-as-sh/

    =========

    If you use the link, you can read more about this stuck-up leftist hack. The report to which it takes you, if you choose, has a further link to the Project Veritas video.

    One might wish for a similar project to be carried out in the UK, where the leftist Guardian evidently holds British people in similar contempt.

    Or would they be too clever to be caught out on camera saying how much they despise their audience.

    ====

    =

    That rather grotesque creature may look like a laughing gnome, but in fact he’s a rabid far-leftist – so far-left that his record shows even the left-lib in-crowd at the BBC reluctantly decided, after vetting, that he had to go!

    Yet the Guardian hides that, and a lot more, in its description of Michael Rosen, the author of a deranged article which appeared this month under the headline –

    Dear Justine Greening: how do we explain to our children the ‘British values’ of the DUP?

    The sub-heading makes the plaintive plea that parents need help in answering the question of why the Tories are still in government and what the DUP believes…

    But there’s not a lot about Tories and a heck of  lot about the DUP….

    …., although the thrust of Rosen’s rabid hate is really aimed at Ulster Brits in general ( he has, however,  a particular hang-up about Sammy Wilson…

    —–

    Gambar terkait

    ….whom I recently proposed as an ideal Secretary of State for Education!)

    The mangy red’s hostility arises from a re-partition plan which Sammy made positive comments about, quite similar to that I have often put forward –

    SDLP- Ulster’s SuDeten-Land Party!

    boundary

    The Somme, The On-Going Threat…and A Dominion of Ulster?

    But fundamentally, it’s clear as day that what he can’t explain to his children are simple things like Ulster’s adherence to traditional values and Ulster’s loyalty to Queen and Country.

    The link to his drivel is there, above, and you are free to read it at your leisure, and make up your own minds whether you share my disgust.

    But it’s not his abhorrent anti-Ulster prejudices that impelled to write this, but rather the Guardian’s typical dishonesty – Rosen is a LOT more than a ‘broadcaster’ and/or writer of children’s stories.

    Some might excuse him because from birth he was raised by card-carrying Reds, his father an ingrate from America, who with Rosen’s mother, joined Britain’s Enemy Within, the Young Communist League.

    …….

    Hasil gambar untuk cpgb

    They graduated to the CPGB, in which they stayed till 1957.

    But their offspring made his own choices, deserving of loathing by all decent British people.

    The BBC episode is all very weird, and suggests that even back then the state media had a soft spot for totalitarian scum.

    Gambar terkait

    Despite the fact that Rosen failed the vetting procedures which were then in operation, he was not officially sacked but was asked to go freelance in 1972,

    That presumably meant he could and no doubt did continue to do work for the BBC, since there were several departments of the BBC wishing to employ him.  Sure enough, Comrade Rosen did bounce back to the Beeb – so much for vetting!

    His buddies welcomed him onto Desert Island Discs and he’s employed as presenter of BBC Radio4’s regular magazine programme Word of Mouth

    But let’s cut to the chase.

    …He has written columns for the Socialist Worker newspaper and spoken at conferences organised by the Socialist Workers’ Party.

    Gambar terkait

    The SWP is a vicious Trotskyist outfit.

    So is Respect, that far-left gang inspired by Saddam Hussein’s fan, George Galloway.

    =====

    Rosen stood for election in June 2004 in London as a Resepct Coalition candidate.

    Rosen is also a supporter of the Republic campaign. He contributed to Poets for Corbyn, a book of poems and signed a  letter attacking The Jewish Chronicle for its report on Corbyn’s association with anti-semites.

     As I said above, a LOT more than a ‘broadcaster’ and/or writer of children’s stories, the Guardian’s feeble attempt to disguise what a virulent disloyal extreme leftist this Rosen really is.

    I’ll bet many of their readers had no idea.

    It’s a measure of how the Guardian sees its readership – like the CNN hack sees ordinary Americans –  ‘stupid as sh-t.’

    Mind you, I suppose a lot of Guardian readers answer that description.

    Sunshine, On A Lazy Jakarta Saturday…But After Next Week?

     ====

    Paper-backs purchased, a brief outing to SuperIndo to buy some beef for a rendang feast tonight, and we’ll see what delights the TV may have to offer.

    ===

    ===

    A fine week drawing to a close, which began with a brilliant Sunday brunch, continued through two excellent parties…

    ……..

    ————

    …AND there’s another next week, before the gloomy month of Ramadhan descends, restos and even humble street-eateries shrouded with silly curtains…

    Big Mackistan? Ramadhan Lock-Out at McD Sarinah?

    IslamoNazi Thugs Amok, Jakarta Cops Say ‘No Charges!’

    Bigot Goon-Squad Bullies Vendor – Decent Indonesians Open Hearts AND Wallets!

    …to ensure no fanatical fasters risk challenge to their spiritual discipline at the sight of non-fasters enjoying a simple meal.

    ———–

    • gus dur fasting

    ‘If we fasting Muslims want respect, let us also respect those who aren’t fasting.’

    ===

    One misses the wisdom of the late President Gus Dur, who was a notable Muslim scholar, so different from so many of the intolerant Islamist self-styled ‘scholars’ these days.

    Islamist ‘Scholars’ – “Don’t Complain if You’re Attacked!”

    Hence one must make the most of it, so today and tomorrow my plan is to relax, conserving energy for fun outings before May expires…

    ===

    Bigot brutes attack a food vendor for its crime of serving lunchtime snacks to hungry workers.

    ====

    …and once again the TV news may be presenting us with scenes of IslamoNazi thuggery, of which the above is a good example.

    Or maybe not!

    Perhaps now that jihadist ideologues have come to dominate both law and discourse here in Jakarta..

    Slouching Towards Shariah, Indonesia Jails Ahok!

    . …they too will take a relaxed attitude towards those whose mere existence affronts their sectarian arrogance.

    Oh Yeah?

      You say it very well, Ross, how mean they are with stupid rules when the only rule should be rule we make for ourselves.
      This is because fasting is CHOOSE not to eat, not order by scholar who think he knows God better then we do,
      Same like stupid curtain.to make us not see eating. If we CHOOSE not to eat then we do not need stupid curtain to make us keep our promise to us.

      Stupid curtain.and stupid scholar and stupid politician like so many in Aceh who will pretend to be holy but still corrupt and steal money from poor people.

      I will fast because I can and I will and not because they make me.
      You and everyone can fast or not, Indonesia is NOT Iran or Arab Saudi.
