Lovely Rossa’s Karaoke Club Targetted by IslamoNazis

Well, hey-ho and away we go. At least I’m about to go out on this broiling hot sunny morning, just gone noon, actually, into the mysteries of Jakarta.

And the news today features a lovely lady, named Rossa.

As you can see, she’s a cutie, right enough, but she shares her name with other cuties, Italian, mostly, whose selection of photos on Google search made the morning search even hotter, because Italian actresses and singers are less modest in their apparel than Indonesian gals – mostly.

Anyway, Rossa runs, or at least owns, a karaoke bar in Depok, not a place I’d like to live in, though my travels today will take me close to it, for it’s right next door to Jakarta.

And she’s in our morning post because, like others in the entertainment business there, she risks the attentions of Habib Idrus, Gauleiter of the IslamoNazi FPI, self-styled ‘Defenders of Islam,’ who go nuts at the thought of anyone enjoying a drink as they singalong on their evenings out.

• Idrus has warned local law enforcement they need to tighten up on prohibition rules or he and his not-so-merry men will start their ‘raiding, or ‘sweeping’ as they like to call it. “I no longer want co-ordination with the government of Depok as it’s equivocal,” said Chairman of the FPI Depok, Habib Idrus Al Gadri.

These kill-joy fanatics just can’t abide people having fun, although their idea of fun is somewhat impenetrable. Maybe we saw it when the FPI ran amok in Jakarta last month ,over 20 cops injured in a riot downtown. 

… if law enforcement can not be firm, Idrus also threatened to use his own way. “What is clear is we push the police first, if there’s action we’ll see. If  promises (eradication of alcoholic drinks) are not met, we will take a stand,” he said.

• In response, Nina Suzana, of the SatPol PP, civic militia, says she’s summoned karaoke managements and is waiting to see their responses.

It really is sad to see such a waste of police time.

Nina doesn’t look the karaoke type admittedly, but surely she and her constables could find some more useful way to spend their time.
