    Tanjung Balai ‘Congregants’ Promote Islamophobia!

I got back after a pleasant morning walkabout in the sun yesterday, then opted to sit out front and soak up some more of those lovely solar rays.

But a glance at the Jakarta Post’s coverage of the mayhem in Tanjung Balai ( I covered the incident a few days ago  –Tanjung Balai’s Burning Temples – A History of Bigotry!  ) made me pause, struck by the odd phraseology.

As reported, a pack of pig-ignorant savages from a local mosque ran amok and desecrated various Buddhist houses of worship.

    —————

    • Savages-poster
    • ———————
    • No fatalities,’says the JP .
    • One is tempted to speculate whether, had the cops used their guns on the rabble, Indonesia might be more wholesome today.

But the damage done by arson and the mob’s other wanton wickednesses resulted in billions of rupiah in losses.

    bhttp://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/07/30/vihara-pagodas-burned-down-plundered-in-n-sumatra.html

It seems some poor woman was driven to distraction by the cacaphonous din from that mosque and went to complain, as she had every right to do.

But it can be dodgy speaking up against the way some mosques disrespect their neighbours.

Aceh – Muslim Seeks Quieter Mosques, Bullied Into Silence, after ‘Death Threats!’

Mosque-din’s an all too common problem here, not least because local government lacks the guts to fulfil its legal obligations, do its duty and deal with miscreants.     https://rossrightangle.wordpress.com/2012/05/11/mosques-above-the-law-too-sensitive-to-enforce-noise-control-and-criticism-an-outrage/.

Even Vice-President Kalla, a serious Muslim, has spoken up.

Turn It Down! Ex VP Urges Volume Control for Noisy Indonesian Mosques

So I tend to suspect poor Melania’s Friday night visit was met with an arrogant refusal to cut the cacaphony, because next thing, as the JP has it, the mosque’s congregation members visited her house following her complaint.

    Congregation?

That conjures up an image of families in Sunday-best, shaking hands with the preacher as they leave, pondering the message in the sermon, going home to dwell on the goodness of God.

    Different story in Tanjung Balai.

The pig-ignoramuses ended up  forcing Tanjung Balai Police officers to safeguard Meliana and her husband at the police station. Angry mobs continued to flock to Meliana’s house, however. Some had even attempted to burn down the house…

What a pack of anti-social undesirable swine!

That’s how normal people would describe them. Instead, the JP uses these bizarre words –

People who had been seized by emotion…

    tantrum

Tantrum brats, regardless of age, I’d say.

.. “The mob attempted to set ablaze the vihara but the police managed to prevent them. They could only pelt the house of worship with projectiles, damaging it. This was the start of the anarchic acts.

The sectarian scum damaged and burned down several vihara and Chinese temples or pagoda….

    ==

    islamophobia-21

    ==

Who is it that’s to blame for ‘Islamophobia?’

    Trump? Wilders?

    3c1b1-get_real_big

It’s vile, blasphemous brutes, like those who destroyed prayer equipment, Buddha statues, tables, chairs, lamps, and several cars and motorbikes.

If  decreasing ‘Islamophobia’ is a desirable goal, those French Muslims have set a good example by refusing burial to that ISIS plague-dog.

     https://uk.news.yahoo.com/muslims-refuse-bury-priest-killer-kermiche

And whoever runs the mosques in Tanjung Balai should follow that example, by making it clear that none of those sacrilegious curs who ran riot will be allowed to set foot on mosque premises ever again.

They have tainted the reputation of their faith.

    =====================

But let’s not imagine only sectarian motives were involved.

    There was base theft too!

Seven people were taken into custody for allegedly plundering the houses of worship when the attacks occurred.

Nothing wrong with such creatures that a firing squad wouldn’t fix.

Trouble is, deliberate promotion of sectarian hatred can be publicly flaunted with impunity here.

    fpi kill busddhist

You may recall those IslamoNazi FPI louts strutting through Jakarta with their hate-banner. No arrests.

And there’s also the infamous example of Lubis, a leader of that same FPI…

But better still if President Jokowi were to order a re-opening of the Ciikeusik case, getting his new Police Chief to go out and detain the cowards still skulking up there in Banten Province, and drag them to justice.

It’s not only drug traffickers who should be facing death sentences.

    • And all those found guilty of participation in the Tanjung Balai outrage this past weekend should get YEARS behind bars.

What you say is badly needing to be said, but by the so-called ‘moderate Muslims’ who have been letting Islamist thugs wander through Indonesian cities and villages bullying, assaulting and as you rightly remind us all, even bloody murdering innocent people.
The people who wrecked the temples in Tanjung Balai should be locked up and not allowed out again until the billions in damages have been paid.off.

Tanjung Balai’s Burning Temples – A History of Bigotry!

Indonesian authorities detained seven suspects in northern Sumatra Island on Saturday for allegedly attacking several Buddhist temples.

Indonesia: Police detains 7 after attacks on Buddhist temples

    ==

A spokeswoman for the North Sumatra provincial police said the suspects were a part of a mob that damaged at least three temples in Tanjung Balai town, near Medan, the fourth-biggest city of Indonesia…

But the police said the attack was not aimed at the Chinese community. “This was just a (dispute between) individuals…”

And so it may have been.

But local reports say the police repeatedly called on the nasty rabble to disperse but incitement on ‘social media’ brought the malignants back.

    buddha-statue A statue that tells a story

    .

Before anyone draws conclusions, let’s remind ourselves of the history of vicious Islamist sectarian bigotry focused on a Buddhist statue in Tanjung Balai.

Indonesia Inquisition Ministry Turns Guns Against Buddhists – Statue Downed at Islamist Behest

That outrageous episode took place, of course, more than five years ago, and we have a different President and, thank God, a very different Minister of Religious Affairs.

    ——————————

    ooo

Once the pig-ignorant savages who committed this latest blasphemous arson are dealt with, perhaps President Jokowi could demonstrate his commitment to the pluralism he often preaches by restoring that statue in our photo to pride of place in Tanjung Balai?

And perhaps Minister Lukman could atone for his predecessor’s shortcomings by going up thee to unveil it personally.

      Thanks for that, Ross
I remember your previous piece about that statue and thats why I am very dubious about the police claim its just a squabble between individuals.
The racket from mosques is bad enough but when they turn violent against people forced to complain about the loud droning, there is no way its a personal squabble.
The government and police dont like this real picture getting out to the world.
      Keep up the good work.

I never knew about how bitterly bigoted these Muslim mobs are against Buddhists.
I thought it was just Christians who got persecuted, like those poor people you have shown us in West Java.
I only look in on your blog now and then so I must have missed this before now.

Sarawak – Turkeys Delight In Creeping Shariah?

“When you allow repeated affronts, when the government allows public servants and instigators to continue to disrespect and have contempt for non-Muslims, it all feeds into the backdrop of fear we’re seeing across the country,” says Stephen, a volunteer church worker.

What does he want for Christmas? “More cheer and less fear in the New Year.” http://www.ucanews.com/news/festive-cheer-and-fear-in-malaysia/74732

That’s the tail-end of an article on how Christians in Malaysia face ever-fiercer Islamist intolerance, one of the worst examples being demands for removal of a cross  – from a church!

    ——–

    malaysia-truly-asia-300x271arabia

    —————————————-

A mob of bigoted ignoramuses imposed their will on a small congregation because they believed the cross, one of the central symbols of Christianity, posed a challenge to Islam and could sway the faith of young people..   Malaysia orders probe after protest…

Those last half-dozen words exemplify the paranoid insecurity – deep doubts about their hold on their flock – that motivates fanatics to target Christians or even Muslim dissenters.

Malaysarabia? Unable To Refute Critics, Islamists Use Police State Jackboot!

It’s sad to see that the incident occurred not in some benighted backwoods dump but in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital city.

But this month again we see news of further nasty sectarianism, the use of the country’s goods and services tax to price traditional Christmas turkey fare off the tables of ordinary Malaysians in Sarawak this festive season.

    =

    =

“Last year, turkey was left out because of ‘technical problems’. Now it’s left out because of supply and demand. “What will be the excuse next year?”.

You can read the whole story via the link.

But after all that’s happened in recent years, it’s a pretty clear affirmation that what we have called ‘creeping shariah’ is now trotting along at a powerful pace.

I hope Christians spare a thought for those thus discriminated against, and look to the brave people of all creeds here in Indonesia to guard against any intensification of the sectarianism we have seen on the rise in this beautiful country.

Panic on Verandah – Islamists Rant At ‘Missionary’ Menace’

Just got back from a most pleasant day out, no serious walking this weekend, but a loooong Busway trip to Pasar Minggu, in the Deep South of Jakarta. There I managed to spend time with not just one but two friends, one after the other, who have both been quite ill but are happily showing distinct signs of recovery.

Stopped in the warteg on my way home, a very decent meal for $1.50 plus a big smile from my fave waitress, so a day well-spent!

Now ready to relax, but first a bit of less pleasant news which occurred last month – want to get it posted before it becomes old news. It’s important people here and overseas understand that some things are not getting any nicer in a certain part of the country we’ve mentioned many times already. ,

    The Sharia Hell of Aceh!

    000000
    Oh dear!
The frightened fanatics up there in Aceh are in mob-rule mode again.
So lacking in confidence are they of the steadfastness of their fellow-citizens’ religious convictions that they are demanding an NGO be shut down –  for fear of ‘Christianisation!’
    freedom-of-religion
Vicious hoodlum action by savages is hardly anything new in the province that likes to style itself the ‘Verandah of Mecca.’
We recorded the brutal murder by primitives of innocent men who had the audacity to think for themselves a year or two ago…
    ———————
a mob attacked the home of an Islamic cleric that it accused of deviant teachings. The cleric and one of his followers were killed, as was one of the attackers.
In the aftermath of the violence, police named the followers as suspects, and took no action against the attackers.

… and we know just how deranged the Islamist ruling clique can be in their attitude towards religious minorities. Islamist Inquisition in Aceh – ” Minority Religious Creed ‘Worse Than Tsunami!’ “
But now the IslamoNazi FPI is on the scene and invoking the word of an apostate to justify their menaces against Sa-Dec, an NGO which is ‘disturbing’ locals, allegedly, by offering them jobs and financial support.
    —————————

    ================……………………………….

The white-shirt gangster group showed up mob-handed at the district HQ of the  Ulama Consultative Assembly (MPU) urging them to immediately freeze Sabang Development Committee (Sa-Dec)
Interestingly, this sectarian rabble were received not only by the office-bearers of the MPU but also by representatives of the police, not just the shariah goon-squad WH but the regular police.
    000000000000
Aceh's Sharia Gestapo in Action shariah goon-squad with captured women
One is reminded of how regular police handled that mob-murder mentioned in that paragraph above…but let that pass.
The frantic fanatics had the gall to issue an ultimatum – if their demands are not met by 13th April, they’ll join with pesantren ‘scholars’ ( you wonder how these ‘Islamic boarding school’ layabouts manage to squeeze in ‘study’ between bigot demos) to undertake a mass demonstration.
    ——————————–
The FPI’s Sabang Gauleiter, Darmawi, claimed Sa-Dec had been troubling the people of Sabang with the lure of jobs and money. That was when the whines about ‘proselytizing missions’ began.
    aceh203map
    00000000000000000
Apparently something called ‘Interwoven LM Love’ is on the scene, which sounds like fun but  is up to no good, according to the FPI’s source,  a turncoat pastor named Ustaz Igusti Ilham Rahmadani. An apostate and already an Ustad (cleric) – a rapid riser, obviously!
Therefore, in order to prevent them generating Christianizing missionary work, the FPI and KPA (an allied body) urged the Sabang MPU immediately to withdraw consent and at the same freeze Sa Dec, as done in other districts / municipalities.
    000000000000000000000
    But alas and alack!
The Chairman of  Sabang MPU said he’d no such authority. They can only make recommendations to the government.
That means the Provincial Government of Aceh, so I suspect the NGO’s days are numbered.
    ooooooo
Still, it will be interesting to see if the fanatics can comply with the MPU’s request for complete data and evidence in writingno doubt they will, given the nasty intimidation practiced by ‘clerics’ in West Java a few years ago.
devil destroyed ‘We will not pray for you!’
Desperate to stop a Christian church being opened, they circulated a sectarian petition.
One brave Muslim resident revealed that the ‘holy men’ had threatened not to pray at their funerals if they failed to cooperate; the majority of his neighbors signed the document under duress.  http://www.christianpost.com/news/indonesian-muslims-call-for-halt-to-christianization-45778/
Men of God, indeed, bullying villagers thus to make them toe the bigot line!
Given the malevolent character of those opposed to freedom of religion, we have little grounds for optimism.

Why are they so afraid the people will convert? That is the big question for me.
