Indonesian Victims of IslamoNazi Thuggery ‘Apologise!’

I wish I could call this story ‘shocking’ but I personally am running out of ‘shockability.’ Indeed, the more time that passes under President (‘Pluralist’) Jokowi, the less shocking this kind of appalling new report becomes.

What happened in Pekanbaru seemed so outlandish that I used three different media sources to make my account as accurate as possible. But one phrase, from Riau Online, sums up the frail state of religious freedom in Indonesia today.

FPI, as regular readers know, is the violent vigilante gangster group which styles itself the ‘Islam Defenders Front.’ Their victimisation of minority creeds here is infamous..

…but their latest target, HMI, is the Muslim Students Association, a nationwide organisation..

What happened was that the Pekanbaru branch of HMI, along with another group,  Activist Network Islamic Philosophy (JAKFI) decided to hold a discussion forum last Friday.

As their coordinator, Diman, later explained in a statement to situsriau.com, the IslamoNazi thugs not only broke up the meeting but kidnapped one of the speakers, a man from Jogjakarta named Safman.

Diman says the actual theme of the talk was “Identity of Women in Indonesia, Progressive Historical and Spiritual.” Dikait-kaitkan dengan Syiah, Ini Kronologis Pembubaran …

Well, that would catch the attention of IslamoNazis, who think women should know their place – which is somewhere way down below that of men.

As one of their Jakarta jerks once put it….

It seems that when Safwan arrived at 8pm, FPI louts were already on the scene, and he tried to have a ‘dialogue’ with the gang. Then ‘about 50 FPI members came in and immediately took action, and Safwan.’

“We did not know where our speaker was taken. He could not be contacted, but around 23:00 pm, online media announced he was at the FPI headquarters in Tanjung Rhu and was being interrogated.”

Diman sensibly reported this astonishing news to Pekanbaru Police and requested help.  

Two hours later he got word Safwan was going back to Yogyakarta by plane..

“Safwan advised, for the sake of our mutual safety, not to accompany him to the airport,” said Diman, who concluded that his guest was being forced by the hoodlums to leave town. 

“Most importantly, he was okay,” said Diman.“We deeply regret this incident occurred...we are open if the parties seek a dialogical approach.”

Poor Diman, if he’s really naive enough to think that the FPI’s vile thugs are either willing or even able to engage in rational dialogue. It is not in the nature of Islamists to debate, if the option of intimidation is available.

We have seen that often enough, not only with these white-shirt bullies but also with the state-sponsored Indonesian ‘Scholars’ Council –

And another source,GoRiau.com, says that along with the victim, the perps grabbed several books and a laptop that allegedly contained material to be presented to the participants of the meeting.

The Chairman HMI Pekanbaru Branch, Syuib, said that what happened Friday night was a misunderstanding between the FPI mob and the HMI members who wanted to hold discussions in the building.

Bogor’s Mayor Cowers From Bigotry – West Java Shamed AGAIN!

Disgusting tale of bigotry, from Bogor, West Java, today, no surprise, alas, because that city’s Mayor Bima Arya has a miserable record of cowering from fanatics, despite his pre-election reputation as a ‘pluralist’ and ‘moderate.’

 

Now he’s banned the Shiite minority from holding their annual Ashura event today.

The Jakarta Globe journo must have a sense of humour, because he writes that it was not immediately clear why the massive police force didn’t prevent the activists from disturbing the event.

Easter in Jakarta – No ‘Islamophobia’ Among Persecuted Christians!

That photo was taken last Sunday, the persecuted congregations of GKI Yasmin church and others, like the Bekasi members of HKBP, gathered for worship on the public pavement across from President Jokowi’s Palace.

Just like his predecessor, SBY – famed for his call for a worldwide blasphemy diktat to censor those who ‘insult’ religions ( though there’s little demand for such a universal censorship except from fanatics among his own co-religionists) – Jokowi has declined to order his police force to enforce the Supreme Court ruling that these innocent folk be allowed to worship in their own church buildings.

Yet he presents himself as a champion of Pancasila pluralism.

Just like the ‘moderate’ Mayor of Bogor, on whom much hope was once focused, when he succeeded his bigoted Islamist predecessor.

But until the Government acts as if they believe in pluralism, he will get away with his intolerance.

That’s what I assumed, at first, but curious, I asked another guy with a camera.

And one of them was dashed pretty – well, they both were cute, but one shockingly so! No burka nonsense, but draped head to toe in black.

And there they were, well received on Easter Sunday by a crowd of Christians who have been treated abominably both by Islamist fanatics and by the Government which should be safeguarding their constitutional rights to worship freely in their own churches.

It sure made me think.

Yes, of course the Shia here have also suffered monstrous persecution by the authorities.

But these Easter celebrants do not respond to their shameful maltreatment by tarring good Muslims with the same brush as should be rightly applied to the IslamoNazis jihadists.

Like the two Muslim girls, they share a sense of what’s right and wrong, and want to put things right in their country.

Something of a lesson there for a lot of people. 

What a nice way it would have been to round off the sunny day out, had President Jokowi emerged from that Palace you can see in the background, sauntered across the road.

How gladsome, had he come and told them that, as Commander-in-Chief, he was going to issue prompt orders to every soldier and police officer in the archipelago to open up those churches and minority mosques –  or guard their reconstruction where they have been destroyed by ignorant Sunni bigots.

But it didn’t happen.

The searing heat of the afternoon was balanced by a chill of indifference emanating from the shuttered palace.

‘Be Respectful,’ Says Blood-Thirsty IslamoNazi…Or Else?

Just in case anyone imagined the IslamoNazi FPI’s intolerance might only be directed at non-Muslims, along comes one of their most notorious leaders to exculpate them from any such accusation.

Ahmad Sobri Lubis, a name well-known to those interested in blood-thirsty hate-mongers, has urged the Indonesian Government to follow the lead of the Malaysian government in handling the Shia.

One would hope that if President Jokowi has a list of countries whose example he might wish to follow, Malaysia would be somewhere near the bottom of the hundredth page.

The Religious Affairs Minister, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, comes from an Islamist party, the very same one, PPP, which spawned his predecessor, the oleaginous intolerant, Suryadharma Ali.

The difficulties experienced in getting these should not be simplistically ascribed to hatred or prejudice – in Bekasi, some years ago, it was learned that some vindictive clerics had told local Muslims to toe the line or they’d be denied funeral services for their kin!

In Muslim majority Indonesia, Christian, Shiite and Ahmadi applicants have almost invariably failed to get the required number, while a few cases have been reported in parts of eastern Indonesia, which has a large Christian population, of Muslims not being allowed to build mosques.

And excellent news too that the package should include measures to help Shiite and Ahmadi communities being driven from their homes by mobs of Sunni Muslims — often with the support of the local police.
