Jakarta – Six Sectarians Shot Dead, But TV News?

Very odd the Indonesian tv channels’ low-key approach to dramatic news here today, after no less than six of Rizieq the Fanatic’s ‘suspected sympathisers’ were shot dead on the toll road between Jakarta and Cikampek in West Java.

Four more went on the run!

The 10 people are suspected of being sympathizers of the leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Rizieq Shihab…. https://amp.kompas.com/nasional/read/2020/12/07/14084051/bareskrim-polri-bantu-polda-metro-jaya-buru-4-simpatisan-rizieq-shihab-yang

BTW, we still await news of whether that fanatic showed up  to answer the police summons today!

    .

Fanatics Fail To Show Up. So What Next?

Good to read that the police are getting fed up, viz.

We call on Rizieq and his supporters to refrain from disrupting the investigation process, because doing so constitutes a felony.”

    .

Since one of my regular commenters alerted me not long ago, I have found info on today’s events on both local and foreign news-sites, but on the local tv channels?

Some little text news at the bottom of the screen!

Indonesian security forces do a pretty good job against sectarian evil…

…and often get precious little thanks.

Having today tackled fanatic gangsters who were armed with guns and swords, and come out on top, you’d think a bit more recognition would be in order!

According to police statements, the incident started with the Polda Metro Jaya investigation of information in the short message application regarding the mobilization of masses to guard Rizieq’s investigation.. https://amp.kompas.com/nasional/read/2020/12/07/14084051/bareskrim-polri-bantu-polda-metro-jaya-buru-4-simpatisan-rizieq-shihab-yang

    Update!

Channel News Asia – based in Singapore- provided full coverage at 5pm Jakarta time, including denial of the police account! And they say Rizieq the Fanatic has gone into hiding, ‘for his own safety!’

So I guess he won’t be responding to that summons!?!

Wise Words In A Jakarta Court – Death To Terrorists!

Only a few weeks ago we asked why there have been no death sentences imposed on terrorists in Indonesia since the admirable executions of the Bali Bomb pigs….

    =

    After Surabaya…HUKUM MATI…Execute Terrorists!

    …a full decade ago.

Quite apart from the deterrent effect ( which is irrefutable, since obviously no jihadist monster, once put down, can kill any more innocents ) capital punishment is a moral imperative for the sort of creatures who engage in sectarian ( or other) atrocities.

Now, in all fairness, I must report that some members of the legal profession are speaking up and talking sense.

Prosecutors insist on death sentence for pro-IS cleric

    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2018/05/30/prosecutors-insist-on-death-sentence-for-pro-is-cleric.html

Now we must await whatever verdict the judges hand down. Fingers crossed!

Without going into the specifics of this particular case, at South Jakarta District Court, which you can read about on that JP link, it would be a great thing  indeed if Indonesia resumed attracting the disapproval of the European Union…

    =

The European Union is the leading institutional actor and largest donor in the fight against death penalty worldwide.

It’s official Brussels policy to wage diplomatic war on behalf of threatened vermin!

    =

    .

Brussels V India! Euro-Commissars Eager To Save Child-Rapists?

….by giving terrorists exactly what they deserve.

PS – unfortunately, even when a proper sentence is handed down, it is not necessarily carried out.

Take a brute named Rois, for example…

BBC NEWS | Asia-Pacific | Jakarta bomber sentenced to death

That was how many years ago?

But when the Sarinah bombing occurred three years ago…?

Rois was sentenced to death and has been in prison in Nusa Kambangan for more than 10 years. He was the bomber of the Australian Embassy in Jakarta in 2004….He has not been executed because his verdict has not been legally enforceable, pending a Judicial Review (PK) in the Supreme Court.

    https://news.detik.com/australia-plus-abc/3154485/iwan-darmawan-alias-rois-diduga-terkait-bom-thamrin

Still, at least the death penalty’s on the Indonesian statute book- better by far than the sickly ECHR’s diktat that prevents every European government doing what most citizens – at least in the UK – want.

Why wasnt Rois executed? Whats the excuse?
I know you always make excuses for Indonesia but if they have capital punishment then why dont they use it for people who deserve it.
I know, you will say Australia doesnt execute them either.
If we had a referendum or even one of Turnbull’s postal ballots I think we would.
