G30S/PKI – At Lubang Buaya, A Prayer Of Thanks

As everyone here in Jakarta knows, September 30th is the anniversary of the PKI (Communist Party of Indonesia) attempt to seize power and plunge Indonesia into a marxist nightmare.

    =

    =

So what’s wrong with Indonesia’s armed forces, the TNI, making sure their men and women view a classic film about that episode in Indonesian history.

Pengkhianatan G30SPKI, which is directed by acclaimed director Arifin C. Noer, tells the story of Gen. Soeharto in quashing a coup blamed on the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI). In the big-budget film, communists are depicted as godless savages who mutilated military officers in a frenzy.   http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2017/09/17/army-to-hold-screenings-of-pki-movie.html

Communism has more deaths to its discredit than any other ideology.

    Communists are indeed godless savages!

    =

    =

And always have been, along with contemptible fellow-travellers, like the late ‘intellectual’ Pramoedya, a key player in the LEKRA red front, on whom we’ve commented before.

From  Tempo, issue May 16-22, 2006 – an extract which explains why some 25 “prominent literary figures and cultural observers” put their distinguished names to a formal submission to the Magsaysay Award Committee in 1995, protesting at that body’s decision to give Pramoedya an award.

    =

    =

Their reasons were simply stated, viz his unethical role during one of the darkest periods for creativity during the Guided Democracy era, when he led the persecution of artists and literary figures who disagreed with him.

(this protest is air-brushed out of most Western references nowadays, though a brief mention is to be found in an otherwise slavishly pro-Pram article in the Economist  http://www.economist.com/node/168819 )

    =

If Indonesia in 1965 had fallen prey to the totalitarian hypocrites of the PKI, God only knows how horrific might have been the fate of this lovely archipelago.

    =====

    Aidit

    =

The PKI fuhrer at the time, D.N. Aidit, opined (before he got what was coming to him!) that North Korea was his favourite marxist model!

    communism tyranny

Not surprisingly, the Communist Party has been banned for fifty years in consequence of the treason that was then crushed.

Yet ten days ago, in an artificially stoked furore over the TNI’s move to have military personnel view the film, we had Aidit’s son opining that

“As long as poverty exists, Marxism will attract people. A challenge for this country is to make everyone prosperous so there’s no need for communism,” Ilham Aidit, son of the late Indonesian Communist Party leader Dipa Nusantara Aidit, said in Jakarta on Wednesday (20/09).   http://jakartaglobe.id/news/rise-new-wave-communism-red-herring-ministers/

This is an odd assertion. The worst, most rabid Reds have tended to be people not afflicted by poverty but those spawned by the privileged, like many of those in modern Indonesia who agitate to exculpate the PKI.

     —–

A lot of present-day ‘intellectual’ posers and their media comrades, notably in the notorious Jakarta Post…

Jakarta Post – Never Miss a Chance to Re-Hab Reds!

…and its competitor, the Jakarta Globe…

…are STILL trying to make out that the Reds were unfairly dealt with in the aftermath.

Even the far-away far-left, the BBC for one example, manage from time to time to jump on this bandwagon!

BBC Bias On PKI – So Kids Shouldn’t Learn Nazis Were Evil?

    As I noted briefly yesterday…

Inconsistent Agitation? Woe To Jakarta Commuters!

…their tactics are to argue that many non-communists suffered retaliation unfairly (true) and that the families of PKI members and fellow-travellers were punished, despite not being themselves guilty of communist treason (also true)

But the pinkos fail clearly to distinguish between those wronged…

    ==

    ======

…and the genuinely guilty, the card-carrying PKI scum  – who often did a runner to red tyrannies overseas (having abandoned a lot of simple folk they’d gulled into fellow-travelling to face the music in Indonesia!)

Incredibly, many ‘former’ PKI, even to this day, have refused to repent, failed to acknowledge the evil of Communism.

‘We Don’t Want Communism?’ But if You Did, It’s Time To Apologise!!

Why on earth seek to rehabilitate such swine, without a word of repentance on their part?

So on this anniversary, let’s join, at least in spirit, those assembled at the Lubang Buaya, where those officers were murdered in 1965…

    =======

…and be thankful that Indonesians did not allow their country to be dragged into the darkness of communism.

I don’t know enough Indonesian history to argue or agree with what you say about this, Ross, but at least it is well written, as usual.

I wish I could say the same for that ‘What’s New Jakarta’ site’s political correspondent whose written English is not much better than our Indonesian maid’s spoken English.
He doesn’t even use the past tense to write about “1965 when the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) confronts the ruling government of Soekarno over power of the archipelago.”
It’s gets worse the more you read – ‘…false truth of the event that was strengthen by the communist propaganda in Indonesia that leads up to the fall of Soekarno regime…’

WNJ needs to remember they are an information site, not a political forum.
Alternatively, if they want to be political, get somebody fluent in English.

I just had a look at the WNJ, Jim.
I use it from time to time to see what interesting events are on in town and that’s useful as a rule, but I never spend more than ten seconds reading what passes for thought in the ‘editorial.’
It’s a pity that ‘political correspondent’ doesn’t get one of his colleagues to proof-read his content. Most of the other articles, reviews etc. are quite well-written.

Nightmare – Indonesian IslamoNazis Get Armed Forces Training!

    •  Some of you will recall the behaviour of the Indonesian Parliament’s Deputy Speaker Fadli Zon, which we covered late last year.

I’ll skip using powerful adjectives – such conduct speaks for itself.

But now he’s in the headlines again, speaking about the most horrific news imaginable, overt collaboration between elements of the TNI, the Indonesian Armed Forces…

The only consolation is that the military commander who brought these white-shirt sectarians into a military training programme has been stripped of his duties – although it’s not clear, and, sadly, unlikely, that he’s been kicked out of the army.

    FPI – prime soldierly material?

    —————

It is not, perhaps, irrelevant that this disgraceful activity occurred in Banten Province, which is only a few miles outside Jakarta – in fact if you have ever flown into Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, you’ll have landed in Banten yourself.

Banten Province was the scene of the vile Cikeusik Pogrom, five years ago, when a mob of ululating Islamist savages martyred three innocent members of the Ahmadi religious minority.

Police looked on as the trio were beaten to death amid howls of ‘Allahu Akbar.’

Nobody has ever been charged with the murders. A handful of the savages got a few months jail-time, as did one of their intended victims, who survived the atrocity. Victim of Islamist Murder Mob Gets Six Months in the Slammer

Today I took the trouble to check on the map and lo, Cikeusik is situated within the very same kebaputen, administrative area, Lebak, where the training reportedly took place.

I wonder if any of the vile beasts involved in the pogrom were among the trainees?

Okay, that training has been stopped, although the Jakarta Post reports that a similar outrage occurred in another province, on the island of Madura.

    The JP adds that –

The TNI has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.   http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2017/01/09/protests-against-military-training-for-fpi-exaggerated-fadli-zon.html

However, one can see why Lieutenant Colonel Czi Ubaidillah, the officer responsible for including the gangster group in his training course, might have felt it permissible to do so.

So Has Indonesia Come To This? Paradise Lost?

    ————

And Fadli Zon too was unashamed to appear with the FPI fanatics last year, so no surprise that he dismissed the concerns of many honourable Indonesians of all creeds about this shocking news.

Fadli has slammed critics who were questioning the program and FPI’s participation in it…

    ……

    Hasil gambar untuk fadli zon

    Fadli Zon

    ……

…The politician from the Gerindra Party also criticized the military’s decision to strip Lebak military commander of his post for recruiting the FPI in Banten to take the training recently, calling the decision “regrettable”.

I have to wonder what all those Jakarta police officers will think about this, the cops who were injured in the FPI riot last year.

Will they welcome the prospect of such Islamist louts being trained to fight?

In the end, I don’t suppose any amount of training will transform the FPI into worthwhile warriors. They tend to avoid any fighting unless they’re mob-handed.

Muslims or Christians it made no difference everybody was horrified just like you.
It wasn’t that long ago that the FPI were seen as just an embarassment by most people but now they are suddenly mixing with high level government ministers and now the TNI are giving them military training?
Like your picture at the bottom of your page, there is a sense of Apocalypse Now, or if not now, happening soon, in a town near you or me.

I just looked it up, the one about Operation Prayer Mat, when the military were accused of helping in the persecution of the Ahmadis.

You were writing about forced conversions in Britain but you also quoted from BeritaSatu.

Jakarta Hate-Gang Fan – Security Forces’ Guest Preacher!

Like it or not, Indonesia’s security  – and the greatest threat to that security is Islamist fanaticism – depends on the Armed Forces (TNI) and Police (Polri).

    • Indonesian_National_Police_General's_Visor_Hat

    • So what in God’s Name are we  to make of the news that, at a great gathering of these security services and their kin, one of the main men on the platform party was the notorious fanatic cleric Arifin Ilham.

    • For overseas readers, we have featured this specimen in previous posts, way back  in 2012, for his bare-faced endorsement of the IslamoNazi Front Pembela Islam,  the self-styled ‘Defenders of Islam Front.’

    ============

Arrahmah.com reported that Muhammad Arifin Ilham reiterated his support for the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), by writing a statement on his Facebook account page on this day, Thursday (16/02/2012) which contains a statement of support for FPI and criticism of corrupt officials who support the secular media and disobedience and spread slander that the FPI are anarchistic…Coming Soon – Halal TV!?!

    Metro TV’s Hate-Group Fan!

As most of you readers will know by now, Governor Ahok of Jakarta is facing prosecution under ‘blasphemy’ legislation, known here for its deployment against people who think for themselves about religion, and also used to suppress the religious liberty of minority groups.

And of course it’s the police who decide on the prosecution process against Ahok.

So why invite that ‘cleric’ to the joint army-police mass meeting – a self-confessed fan of the IslamoNazi hate gang?!!

There are plenty of others, respectable Islamic figures (who also, BTW, get assailed by Islamist louts – Jakarta Mosque Mayhem – IslamoNazi Louts Silence Moderate ) to choose from.

Arifin helpfully told the assembled crowd that by hidayah – that’s ‘divine guidance…‘ the channel for which, he seems to think, is this current ‘blasphemy’ witch-hunt, “Ahok could understand the power of Islam, namely that the faith of Islam and Islamic teachings are beautiful.”   http://www.beritasatu.com/megapolitan/399866-ustaz-arifin-ilham-doakan-ahok-dalam-istigasah-di-monas.html

    Beautiful?

Not according to Arifin’s big buddy Habib Rizieq, of the FPI, who spat out the ugliest, bloodiest intolerance imaginable, last month, when he called for Ahok to be SLAIN!

    habib_rizieq_temui_hasyim_muzadi

“We encourage the government to process the death penalty for Ahok as soon as possible,” said Rizieq.  http://www.suara.com/news/2016/10/14/134313/rizieq-shihab-ucapkan-kata-kata-hukuman-mati-untuk-ahok

Nothing beautiful about having a man put to death for something he’s said.

Decent Muslims surely should be loudly denouncing such poisonous nonsense? People like Rizieq are the reason that ‘Islamophobia’ exists.

So why didn’t Arifin focus his sermon to those attentive cops on the evil bigotry that calls for a man to be murdered for mere words?

The head of the armed forces, General Gatot Nurmantyo, was apparently among the 20,000 people listening to the cleric’s rapturous rant, only yesterday.

The gathering , its designated purpose being to pray for the common safety of the people of Indonesia, took place at Monas, the vast park around the National Monument.

Wong Cilik, Ahok, TNI – Tragedi Kali Jodo!

I’d just about given up on the Kali Jodo saga, till one reader contacted me to ask if I’d seen the BBC report.  I hadn’t!

But last night it was re-run and I did see it, a rare ( for the BBC) fair coverage, which agreeably made mention of the way fancy folks’ developments seem to slide through the approval process here, while the little people, known here as the wong cilik, get shoved aside.

Or kicked out of homes they’ve lived in for years.

Now a little local coverage of that very aspect.

    —————–

“…what we can see right now does not give the impression that the Kalijodo eviction has involved a dialogue with residents at all. There’s only arrogance.”

Mr. Hafidz Abbas ( top photo, with Kali Jodo residents- has Ahok gone there to talk with them this week?) was affronted by the involvement of the armed forces ( TNI) in the onslaught against this little neighbourhood, an onslaught launched on the most irrational grounds imaginable, a fatal accident nearby last month when a drunk driver allegedly responsible was said to have been drinking in Kali Jodo beforehand.

As I asked then, are we now to expect five-star hotels in upmarket neighbourhoods to be raided and shut down if somebody has too many costly cocktails in a ritzy lounge and then gets into bother on the toll road?

It makes no sense at all, no more than does Governor Ahok’s declaration that he wants Kali Jodo extirpated before the shariah fans of the OIC descend on Jakarta later this month.

Why Has Ahok Given Kali Jodo An Islamic Deadline?

Now we  –  or at least I – need to question the wisdom in so doing.

He has no doubt gladdened the stone-cold hearts of the jihadist vigilante element Kali Jodo – Think Again, Ahok! Why Delight IslamoNazis? by taking down a harmless kampung.

But has this episode made most  – or even many – people who live in Jakarta feel proud? I’d guess many share my dismay!

As for military involvement in an urban eviction, what are the generals thinking of?

Have they forgotten the obloquy that accrued to the men in uniform after the shameful treatment of a peaceful religious minority in the so-called ‘Operation Prayer Mat?’

Syarifudin Damanhuri, the head of an East Java district chapter of the MUI, suggested a religion test instead, arguing that it would give military recruiters a better profile of an individual’s character than a virginity test ever could.            http://thejakartaglobe.beritasatu.com/news/good-thing-military-chief-virginity-testing-female-recruits/

I trust this would be a serious examination measuring the troopers’ understanding of comparative religion?

Or would it be to ensure the candidates’ grasp of Indonesia’s constitutional commitment to pluralism, that key right to worship freely, practising whatever faith you have personally chosen as your own?

Or would it be some sort of catechism, Q and A on the tenets of only one creed? That would deny equal rights to those many faiths which the government declines to recognise when inscribing religious affiliation on the ID cards which every citizen has to carry.

It would also be absolutely meaningless in terms of evaluating the moral worth of those tested. The TNI (armed forces) say the two-finger tests are all about “the dignity and the honor of the nation!” Yet even the most ardent unbeliever can swot up on the tenets of any and every faith and presumably pass with flying colours.

In fairness to the MUI, their proposed test is no more ridiculous than the existing one, and arguably less grossly offensive to the dignity of every woman in the world.

It will be fascinating to see if the  International Committee on Military Medicine (ICMM), whose 41st world conference is due to open tomorrow, right here in Indonesia, at Nusa Dua Convention Center, in Bali, has the cojones (will they be tested!) to take up the issue.

Or again, President Jokowi, to whom the TNI is responsible, could simply make a good speech there, when he gives the opening address, issuing clear orders for an immedate end to the barbaric and discriminatory practice.

So bad how TNI is treating Indonesian women.
      TNI makes Indonesia ashamed.

A very better idea is two-finger test for idiot general, but maybe they like that?

Why Jokowi silent. He is big boss of TNI and he can order stop ill-treament of women soldiers.
