    Kuntilanak2 Kembali Lagi! Yes!

Glad to see that Trans TV is doing some ENJOYABLE re-runs, some fine Indonesian horror movies, for Hallowe’en.
The excellent ‘Kuntilanak’ is one already advertised, so I hope ‘Pocong’ will be another.
One of my faves from ten years ago or more was ‘Tali Pocong Perawan,’ starring the luscious Dewi Persik.

I can happily watch her acting skills for hours and hours. She’s still raising hell in the headlines here, a feisty gal.
Sadly, the equally watchable Julia Perez succumbed to cancer a while back.

She too was a horror star appreciated by vast numbers of movie-goers here.

    A sad loss.

So exactly what are these dreaded supernatural beings we’re talking about, that may grace our TV screens in just a few days time?

Feast your eyes on these frightful spectres!

Western readers may be baffled by all the above, so I offer you a link to an old post…
    …which may enlighten you.
I got out of the habit of watching local scary films, because producers began giving us dancing pocongs and silly kuntilanaks, which trivialised the genre.

    Roll on Hallowe’en!

Yes you are a good adviser for the Indonesian horor film.
The older film is almost always better.

Wow! Jakarta Debate – Ira Koesno Ain’t No Rotten Raddatz!

I tuned into the debate last night.

The Jakarta gubernatorial election debate that is, and purely by accident, because it was on Trans TV and I was waiting to see which one of their tiresome repeats they’d present as our weekend treat. In the end it turned out be A Man Apart.

I enjoyed that the first time I saw it, some years ago.

    Now…not so much.

    Can’t Trans TV do better?

But whilst awaiting cinematic delights, it was interesting to watch Ahok taking on his two rivals, and nice to see a cheering crowd of supporters among the studio audience.

Interesting also to learn that some 1700 police officers had been detailed to make sure all went safely, a wise precaution when so many Islamist fanatics have been heard demanding his death for no rational reason.

So Has Indonesia Come To This? Paradise Lost?

The debate wasn’t as much fun as any of those Trump-Clinton clashes!

Yet the moderator was a lot less biased than some of those individuals who filled that role in the recent US presidential election debates – one of those got all boo-hoo, when it was clear Trump was winning!

Almost needless to say, ABC’s Martha Raddatz denied it!

But you can be the judge!

As for the Indonesian debate, I won’t say which candidate was most persuasive, as I only saw part of it.

That lady doing the moderating, however, was downright impressive, telling the turbulent fans, of all sides, to pipe down or the show would not go on!

And who was this paragon of imperious impartiality?

    Ira Koesno!

English readers might like to know that she is apparently a Chelsea supporter!

Incredibly, she is also forty seven years old, which you may or may not believe, but I can assure you that the photo above is an reflection of her appearance.

    She’s drop-dead gorgeous!

And living proof of what I have often said, that Indonesian women are among the most lovely in the world..

‘Child Marriage’ in Indonesia And A Fanatic Cleric…

An article in the Jakarta Post caught my eye, not for its subject so much as one name mentioned therein, that of Ilham Arifin.

He’s on Trans TV all too often, the late, late preachy show, so he must be worth a few bob, as they say, or said, when British coins weighed more than a bottle-cap.

    • trans tv
    • ———–
    • I switch channels when he pops up, an oily leer on his fizzog.

But again, that’s not so much for what he has to say, which interests me very little, but for what I know about him, and indeed posted here some four years ago.

Back then he was a regular feature on Metro TV…

    Metro TV’s Hate-Group Fan!

I don’t know if he’s still working there as well as at Trans, but he continues inexplicably to be treated as some sort of celebrity, shown great  deference, despite his record of support for the vilest elements in Indonesia.

That’s him, the one without the fetching white scarf, his companion being the notorious Habib Rizieq, aka ‘High Priest’ of the self-styled Islam Defenders Front. Ilham’s never tried to hide his enthusiasm for those IslamoNazis.

    fpi kill busddhist

    Hate-gang on the march

Arrahmah.com reported that Muhammad Arifin Ilham reiterated his support for the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), by writing a statement on his Facebook account page on this day, Thursday (16/02/2012) which contains a statement of support for FPI and criticism of corrupt officials who support the secular media and disobedience and spread slander that the FPI are anarchistic…Coming Soon – Halal TV!?!

Ilham Arifin’s maybe not the worst of the bizarre breed we looked at more closely in Jakarta – Islamophobia Stoked By TV Fanatics?  but to be fair, he’s bad enough.

The article that got me writing this was written by a pretty smart lady who pointed out many good reasons why marrying too young was something better not done.

But as it transpires, his son is 17 years old. So we’re at least not talking about child marriage in any bad sense, although because Indonesia’s laws require bridegrooms to be 19, young Alvin must first obtain a marriage dispensation from the Cibinong Religious Court because he is considered underage.

Seventeen is old enough – I wish authorities in Europe would apply the same yard-stick to crimmigrants, instead of the idiotic rule that treats strapping 17-year-old brutes as ‘children!’

Nevertheless, at that age, IMHO, the boy’d be happier hanging out with his pals at the local warteg, or playing soccer in the park, or bopping at a club, than taking on a life-long responsibility.

    But so be it.

Good luck to the newly weds. After all, English teens used to run across the Scots border, to Gretna Green, Scotland’s age of consent being Sweet Sixteen.

No, what bugs me about Ilham in this JP story is his comment on why he’s over the moon about the lad getting hitched.

Proudly announcing his full blessing, Arifin said he married off his child to protect him from harm in the world and after life.  http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/08/22/why-does-marrying-young-cause-more-harm-than-good.html

Protect him from harm? An objective any parent would cherish, but…

    • anfpi2
    • …why doesn’t Arifin show public concern about protecting victims of the cowardly white-shirt brutes who maraud and manhandle innocent citizens. The IslamoNazis have time and again attacked both property and people – though only when they outnumber their prey by a hefty percentage.

    fpi skulk in mosque

When brave citizens fight back, the FPI scuttle for safety faster than a rat up a drain pipe.

IslamoNazis V Freedom-Fighters? – Some Chicken, Some Neck!

Ilham could set his son a good example by including in his speech at the wedding reception a stentorian condemnation of Islamist hoodlum gangs.

And since he’ll doubtless be handling the prayers, he could point out, given his above-mentioned concern for the afterlife, that sectarian thugs should be wary of those ‘virgins in paradise’ stories.

Hidup Serigala2 Cantik2 – Besok Rabu, 29th April, Trans TV?

I’m not a big fan of Trans TV, largely because of the frequency of ads, and because they re-run movies too often. How many times can one enjoy Ananconda?

    • ————-

    trans tv

    • But last night, having been out for a pleasant meal at Plaza Semanggi on Friday evening and heading off today for a Sunday jaunt, I stayed home, mostly blog-work, but with the TV on, and, even despite ad-breaks, managed to enjoy SWAT.

Better still, I caught a glimpse of a preview of their Wednesday ( 29 April ) show, Dag Dig Dut, a dangdut music spectacular with many of my fave stars, including –

    …Zaskia Gotika…

    Dewi Persik…

    …and DUO SERIGALA – The She-Wolf Duo!

They’re all sexy songstresses, exemplifying the dangdut spirit.

But given the appalling treatment meted out to the last-named, a totally disproportionate reaction to a bit ( well, maybe two bits!) of harmless fooling around –Kasihan Duo Serigala – Sexy Singers Hounded by Fanatics!  – I am currently both sympathetic towards and interested in that pair!

You can read both my previous posts –  – but a recent news item indicates the mind-set of media monitors here -like the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) which went slightly berserk after the dynamic duo appeared on Trans’ Late Night Show.

I give the raw Google Translate version, which is even funnier than if I were to tidy up the English.
In a letter numbered 343 / K / KPI / 04/15, KPIs provide Written Reprimand on Trans TV for this program….
In the KPI assessment, as written on the official website on Friday (10/4), bouncy attractions dribble that shook erotic chest while singing did not pay attention to norms of decency and morality prevailing in society, as set out in the Code of Conduct of Broadcasters and Broadcast Program Standards ( P3 & SPS) KPI in 2012.
In this program, the rocking motion dribble close-up views. This attraction exploit the chest by bending the chest into the audience, so it looks cleavage.   http://palingaktual.com/1605829/tampilkan-duo-serigala-goyang-dribble-tengah-malam-kpi-tegur-trans-tv/read/

I read this during Sunday breakfast preparations – darn near dropped the plate laughing!

Yes, it is funny, but that was a late-night show, so how come all the fuss?

    The KPI’s sticky-beak priggishness is notorious –

Ramadhan Buttocks Ban – Jakarta TV Decree Decries Thighs Too!

    – we’ve covered it before, focusing on its sectarian slant, after their Chairman, Judhariksawan, told the JP that the KPI was cooperating with the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) to monitor television shows on every network…

    • “During Ramadhan, the KPI and MUI will not hesitate to force shows off the air if we find they have the potential to affect people devoted to carrying out religious activities in the holy month!”
    • oooooooo
    • censored-boobs-300x199 Does cleavage ‘affect people devoted to carrying out religious activities?’ Surely not if they take their religion seriously!
    • ooooooo
    • Despite such nonsense, this is not (yet) the Islamic Republic of Indonesia.

    • So let’s see if the gals are free to perform as impressively again on Wednesday!

That Google Translation is hilarious. I cant believe the KPI said anything so laughworthy.
You are on good form these days, Ross. But we need more Indonesia posts like this.
The international news you write about is interesting, but doesnt Jakarta have enough stories to keep you busy and us amused?

Thanks, JazPen, but I post on Indonesian news three or four times a week. It’s a wide world out there, so many good stories deserve my attention. I’m just about to publish on another local issue!
        Keep up the comments!

Heheheheh… so funny but you are true in what you say about the KPI.

They force good tv show to stop in Ramadan because they are thinking this is already Iran or Arab Saudi.
Very funny at first but very bad and sad what kind of country we get with this KPI that is same like FPI, so very intoleran….

Jakarta – Islamophobia Stoked By TV Fanatics?

It’s a fine sunny morning again here in Jakarta, and all the brighter for reading Yenny Wahid’s splendid denunciation of the IslamoNazi FPI ( self-styled’ Defenders of Islam’).

Yenni is the daughter of the late President Gus Dur, a man who exemplified the best sort of Muslim, and she says the white-shirt thug gang does not reflect an Islamic attitude. She went on to describe them as not civilized.

Islamophobes please note – Yenni is a good woman. She is faithful to her religion, and naturally is concerned if it is brought into disrepute. One example she used to back up her words was the thugs’ demo last month in which twenty or more police were injured. There was another FPI demo on the same theme recently.
And those present there that disgraceful day do tend to explain why Islamophobia exists.

One man given the opportunity to deliver an oration was Ahmad Al Habsi, popular because he’s a speaker on the morning lecture at a private television station. In the speech, Ahmad Al Habsi said Ahok was arrogant. According to him, Ahok’s vanity Ahok is not a reflection of the descendants of Adam.”

So Ahok’s not human!?!?! This ‘cleric’ actually likened Ahok’s ‘arrogance‘ to that of a ‘DEVIL.’

    ahok  =  devil destroyed
Ahok a DEVIL? -a deranged comparison!

“And the arrogance of this Ahok should be fought with arrogance.”  http://metropolitan.inilah.com/read/detail/2152830/ahmad-al-habsi-yang-sombong-iblis-harus-dilawan

     Al Habsi

Well, that’s about as extreme as it gets.

Ahok’s real offence, as some FPI leaders have admitted, is that he’s Christian. Most normal people, of all religions, will dismiss sectarian railing against the honest, plain-spoken Governor of Jakarta as totally deranged.

Yet this man is a given a regular spot on a major TV channel to spout his jihadism. Whose decision was that, to provide a platform for a fanatic to target millions?

We could dwell on devils, or at least diabolical behaviour.

Habib Rizieq, the IslamoNazi coordinator of the demo, did jail time for his role in the Monas Riot in 2008, and Rizieq’s FPI are notorious for sectarian thuggery all over Indonesia. Rizieq may not be a ‘devil,’ but he’s pretty bad news.

One might even ask how this Al Habsi sits down and works out how to measure the level of devilry in public figures.

    alubis Lubis

Once he explains his method, ask him to apply it to the FPI’s then Secretary General, Lubis, who is on video record urging a demented rabble to ‘kill, kill, kill’ members of the peaceful Ahmadi religious minority… link here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7RLCXNdKF4 )  …an outburst of sectarian hate which doesn’t quite square with Al Habsi’s peroration, ‘We love peace.’

Clearly the tv channel managers who chose Al Habsi for their programme must be well aware of his outrageous outburst, but so far no  news of his dismissal.  So whoever runs the show must be judged to have found no fault with his rabid rant.

Al Habsi is not the only extremist who gets far more than his fair share of media time. We have covered Arifin Ilham before, That’s him, in the photo below, with Rizieq.

He’s never tried to hide his enthusiasm for the IslamoNazis.

Trans TV has often given pride of place to this extremist. He has also appeared on Metro TV.  https://rossrightangle.wordpress.com/2012/08/18/metro-tvs-hate-group-fan/

I know he’s still on Trans, but I don’t know if Metro has dumped him.  Whether either of those is the channel guilty of putting Al Habsi on to gladden viewers’ hearts, I can’t confirm, yet. I generally switch off when that kind of programme starts!

But maybe readers can tell me.

If major Indonesian media continue to harbour hate-preachers like Al Habsi and fans of thug gangs like Arifin, maybe businesses who want decent people to buy their products should be told to consider where ads are placed.

Readers only need to check out when the ugly face of fanaticism leers at them from the box, then note which companies’ advertisements pop up at that time of day.

Then email the head offices and suggest a review is in order. Perhaps Yenni Wahid could get something like this underway. She does, after all, quite rightly, want to keep the reputation of her creed untainted.

Again good when you show people all over the world what these ustadz are.
Hate preachers is the right words for what they are. And TV boss who pays them no different.
You should name others also because there are so many in Indonesia.

Go ahead and tell the truth like this, it is happy to read what the others do not publish.
We know where they are coming from, Yemen and Middle East who came to Indonesia many years ago and cannot become truly Indonesian.
They are still holding on to the bad Arab ways, even dressing like Arab not like Indonesian, I mean men too not just women. Look so stupid.
