Brits will probably have seen this news story, but for overseas readers, it’s a middle-aged lady getting ARRESTED for blowing a toy trumpet at a demo against the removal of some trees in Sheffield.

Well, she got what was coming to her all right!

After all, the gestapoid klutz in the photo above had WARNED her!

You can hear that, and hear her asking what law she was breaking, and the gestapoid response, on the video available on the link.

Somebody back in The Old Country should launch a petition demanding that the bearded brain-dead bobby be fired.

I thought it was only the politicised senior ranks that had lost all sense but that fool is an embarassment to any police force.
      Yes, fire him.

      A middle-aged woman with a toy trumpet?
Did the cops call for back-up?
      Flabbergasted reading this.

Nobody trusts the police in England now.
If you criticise immigrants or contradict May on the ‘benefits’ of shariah the police can and will bully you or detain you.
Now they are arresting ladies with toy trumpets.

I am a retired police officer and I despair at the attitude in many cases by the modern police .

Hey, Jakarta, Lay Off The Trees – Hammer Those Bozo Bikers!

When I first arrived in Jakarta, quite a lot of years ago, my first home was in a rented room in a modest house in Karet, Setia Budi, in the heart of the city.

Another of those  rooms was tenanted by a dashed fine Australian fellow, who was kind enough to give me guidance on where  to go for fun, such as Tanamur…

Let’s Re-Open TANAMUR, NOT the Stadium!

….and useful survival tips to ensure I did not come to grief  when navigating Jakarta’s nocturnal –  and daylight! – hazards.

But I still recall his enthusiasm for the capital, and in particular, last week, about how much greener than many other ASEAN cities our grand metropolis really was.

So my attention was captured by this story in the Jakarta Post…

In line with the city administration’s plan to widen sidewalks along Jl. Sudirman and Jl Thamrin, several officers from the Jakarta Forestry, Park and Cemeteries Agency began to remove trees on Senayan traffic circle and Bendungan Hilir, Central Jakarta, on Saturday.

This tree may be safe, but a lot more are doomed

“There will be a major restoration along Jl. Sudirman and Jl. Thamrin. We apologize to residents because we have to move the trees soon,” says the City Secretary, Saefullah…

    Trees being removed from Sudirman

The justification for this scheme is that it will benefit pedestrians.

But if you use my link, you’ll see the trees shown by the JP in its report, and the specific area along Sudirman.

This week alone I walked twice along that very stretch of sidewalk you can see in the JP photograph

Rest assured it was NOT the trees that posed any problems.

It was the repeated violation of pedestrian territory by irresponsible imbeciles on motor-bikes.

My photo, above, was taken in North Jakarta, and you can clearly see my enjoyment of the pavement was NOT that tree but the biking cretins, whose trespasses not only immediately endanger the innocent walking public…

….but also, of course, cause damage to paved surfaces meant to be walked on, adding to the risk of stumbling and falling every day.

What the Jakarta authorities need to do is hammer these begos (that’s the local word for eejits!)

If a biker invades the footpath, don’t just warn him or fine him, confiscate his bike.

Yes, I see the picture in Jakarta Post and it is very near my office where I work and every day I almost am knocked over by a crazy bego on bikes.
I think it is a very good idea to confiscate the bike and make them buy new bike so they learn lesson to be polite and stay away from sidewalk.

      GOOD IDEA.
Take away the bikes from the stupid bikers who drive on places they are not allowed.
