What many people do NOT know is that the old Liberal Party did NOT agree to the merger.
The merge faction included the MPs and most of the councillors, but they lacked the numbers legally to complete the deal
So the Liberal Party never actually merged, and continues till today to fight elections and to have quite distinct policies…

I remember the Liberals!
They used to be pro-European Community but I just looked at their website. You are correct, they have grown out of that rubbish.

I hope those Liberals in Cornwall do well. They deserve support from voters there who traditionally supported their party long before the Lib Dems came into existence and began their march to the far left.
