More Than 1 Plague? Fanatic Java Mob Amok!

While here in Indonesia the Chinese Virus rages, some 68000 dead so far…

Indonesia Prepares for Worst-Case Scenario as Covid Cases and Deaths Set New Record

…we had a reminder of the archipelago’s other plague yesterday.

Sectarian fanatics ran amok in Tasikmalaya, West Java, demanding the release of Rizieq….

    Rizieq the Fanatic, cuffed

…erstwhile leader of the banned FPI, self-styled ‘Defenders of lslam Front…’

    …a violent vigilante gang.

During the riot, they pelted the officers with stones and other hard objects. They continued to move and tried to break down the gate of the prosecutor’s office…

The brutes were beaten off, but not before three police vehicles were vandalised and one officer injured.

Rizieq’s trial has been on-going for some time.

Read our previous reports for the background.

A good idea. so may be we must extend it?

No goods like those should be exempted from compulsory masking, to increase the risk they face but have the distance rule doubled so normal people can be well apart from them.

Garut Gals Will Cheer You Up – Unless You’re A Kill-Joy!

Pretty dismal news on all fronts, and, sadly predictably, when something very un-dismal happens, the kill-joys start braying.

Garut is located in Indonesia’s West Java province, a source of much unpleasant news over the years…

Ahmadi Koran burned by Islamists in Cisalada, 2011

…but here’s a sight to cheer up all normal people, guys at least!

HEBOH TARIAN EROTIS DI GARUT, Ditonton Ratusan Laki-laki, Wakil Bupati Jengkel, MUI Sebut Haram

Dancers at Garut Culture Fest, a week ago.

    Great stuff, yeah?

But we read in  Tribunnews.com that –

The dancing of those girls evoked controversy from the citizenry of Garut.

The local ‘scholars’ got all fretty.

’The girls’ activity is deemed not to reflect the vision of Garut Regency!’

    Oh dear!

The local Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) chairman, Sirodjul Munir, holds that whoever staged this ‘must take responsibilty, because the show does not accord with Garut culture. Moreover, the dancing could be seen by minors!’

It’s clearly haram! It has disturbed the morality of the people.”

    Like, uh, which people?

The audience didn’t seem at all upset, and since there is no nudity evident in the video…

…though it’s hard to tell, because the video is blighted by the imposition of opaque intrusions, similar to the way state censors here blur cleavage when a bar-maid in a film bends forward!

    ….why bring minors into it?

Do West Java folks never wear shorts?

Sadly, it appears that the deputy regent joined in the whining, regrets galore!

The MUI man is no doubt a worthy successor to the gent who held the same position nine years ago…

…who objected to the lovely Miss Universe contestant pictured above, and we are all too familiar with the thinking of the ‘scholars…

“A Wise And Noble Step?” Islamic ‘Scholars’ On Terrorist Unleashed In Indonesia!

Bali Hindu King – Don’t Kill Our Cows! Muslim ‘Scholars’ – Get Lost!!

Islamist ‘Scholars’ – “Don’t Complain if You’re Attacked!”

…and not just in West Java!

But when people in Indonesia, just like everyone else in the world, are feeling stressed and depressed, can the wowsers not lighten up and choke back their kill-joy chorusing?

Indonesian girls always cheer me up!
I wish some of the ‘scholarly’ men were not so depressing.

What is wrong with these sad ‘men?’
No fun, no freedom, is that how they expect people to live?
If they get all hot and bothered at the sight of pretty girls’ legs, then that is their problem.
They should stay in and take cold showers, not embarass themselves by complaining when the audience had no complaints.

‘Kota Setan?’ Devil City In Java? Fanatics Fume Over Festival!

Well, how many of you, dear readers, paid attention to recent comments emanating from the FPI, the self-styled ‘Islam Defender Front?’

None of you, probably, if you live overseas!

But here in Indonesia, ever since President Jokowi chose to share a platform with Habib Rizieq, the FPI ‘High Priest,’ one is surely ill-advised to ignore their utterances, however bizarre.

Rizieq, on the left, Jokowi, on the right

So Has Indonesia Come To This? Paradise Lost?

And they don’t come much more bizarre than the latest outburst from the white-shirt vigilante gang’s Purwakarta gauleiter, Muhammad Syahid Joban.

Hasil gambar untuk joban fpi purwakarta

    FPI’s Syahid Joban

It’s not exactly the first time that Islamist fanatics have shown signs of stress over matters relating to that provincial city.

In 2011, a pack of sectarian louts went on a rampage of vandalism against various statues of legendary figures from the widely revered Ramayana pantheon…

Then in 2015, they got their (presumably white) knickers in a right twist about massive resistance to their activities by decent Muslims, when Rizieq’s appearance there had to be protected by police.

Bravo, Purwakarta! IslamoNazis Cower Behind Cops – Again!

This time that geezer Syahid was in a tizzy, railing at the popular and entertaining local regent, Dedy Mulyadi, because of a festival in the West Java city.

“Never participate in the Jurig Festival,’ ranted Joban.

    Hasil gambar untuk jurig purwakarta

    Jurig parade

Well, it seems the cultural festival has been outrageously focusing on culture, not religion.

And one of the traditional carriages in the photo was allegedly used to bring a buffalo to a ‘polytheistic’ event. Joban was in the news last year, when he tweet-scolded Jokowi for having had the carriage to the National Palace!

Now the indefatigable extremist is yelping on the same cultural festival, again!

‘Religion comes first, then culture, not the other way about!’

Like, uh, why, we might be tempted to ask again!

But not, perhaps, if we read the Viva.com article all the way through.

It becomes clear that the white-shirts are still harping on their grudge against Dedy Mulyadi…

Islamist Insanity – ‘He’s Married The Goddess of the South Seas!’

…which we’ve noted in the past!

The fanatics reckon Dedy nurtures hopes of becoming West Java’s Governor!

‘Don’t ever let that happen!’ says the Gauleiter, who wound up the rant by warning his fans not to fool around when it came time to choose regional leaders.

“Otherwise, Purwakarta will become a ‘Devil City!'”

    Ooooh! Scary!

Such a transformation might promote a different brand of tourism from that our in-coming Jakarta Administration is said to be contemplating.

The Arab culture is what the FPI like because they do not like Java culture.
I remember we all were so angry when the fanaticals attack the statues and now it is time to be angry again because the FPI always make trouble.
Better do to FPI what the government is saying about Hizbut Tharir.

Happy to see some good old-fashioned fanatic-bashing again, Ross.
I like your joke ( ? ) about tourism because those fanatics have no sense of humour so mockery is a good tactic against them.

I dont know if Dedy is running for governor or not but West java could do a lot worse. It already is.

I wish FPI can go live in Arab Saudi They always complain here in our country.
If they think Indonesia so terrible for our good culture then it is better they live in country where they can be happy.
Thank you, Ross. Have a nice day too.

Why must culture not come first in culture fest?
Religion come first in mosque or church and that is right.
Culture is for all Purwakarta people with any religion.
Java people all respect history and love legend of Java like with the statues and only FPI has problem with that.
Nobody will make the FPI join the fest fun because we know FPI hate fun.
Better they stay at home and be unhappy like they always are unless when they make trouble for people who like to be happy…

These are same people who want to kill Ahok because his words give them bad temper.
Also same people who hate religious freedom in Indonesia and same people attack warung in Ramadhan as you many times show foto in your blog.
Also same FPI that say they want to kill Buddhis in Myanmar.
I do not think the festival in Purwakarta is the the devil that make Indonesia feel scary.

Every time i read that FPI hate Dedy Mulyadi I think more and more that Pak Dedy will be a wonderful Governor in West java.
The real demon place in Indonesia is Aceh where they whip girls for nothing.
I wish all FPI may go to Aceh and then Aceh people may rise up and free their province. I will be happier if President Jokowi may order FPI dissolve but I think he is not the man to do that.

Iniquity Of Polygamy – Bandung Mayor’s ‘Men Only’ Plea!

Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil, a social media aficionado, told Idul Fitri masses gathering at the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api stadium in the city that it was better for married men in Bandung to not commit polygamy.

In most civilised countries, polygamy is outlawed.

Here in Indonesia, however, there is official disapproval, but there’s no ban, and a quite a lot of backward men do indulge in it, notably Islamist fanatics.

Kontroversi Poligami – Shariah Sexists Shrilling Stridently!

What I personally find most disgusting is not that some men are so over-sexed that they can’t be content with one wife…

….but that the law lets them get away with it – whilst making NO provision for similarly over-sexed women to enjoy reciprocal carnal indulgence.

If a man can have four wives, both justice and common sense surely require that a woman can have four husbands – both scenarios sound God-awful to me, but…

    …well, fair’s fair, yeah?

Polyandry, of course, is NOT countenanced under any circumstances!

But Ridwan, whom we have met before in these columns…

Pluralism? Muslim Sermons on Public Buses?

Bandung Mayor Reports Twitter Twit to Cops – Understandably!

    ‘Bandung, City of Pigs!?!’

….does not try to argue the case against polygamy on the grounds that it is obviously iniquitous!

    Mayor Ridwan Kamil

He is, you see, a 2018 West Java gubernatorial election hopeful – so he’s actually courting the votes of single males!

“I call on married men here to not commit polygamy. Please have pity for those men who have yet to find a partner in life,” said Ridwan..

What about women who are single?

Aaah, but perhaps Ridwan’s audience was segregated?

I suppose if all those single blokes do get hitched, the single Bandung chicks (who are generally very cute) will, by logical corollary, get snapped up.

But it seems superficial to preach against a social blight on such mundane, self-interested grounds.

Still, Ridwan DOES have a reputation for joking.

Very happy holiday to you, Ross and thank you for making me laugh. That cartoon is so funny and tells women how silly it may be to have many husbands.
I wish the crazy men who think they can have many wives need to go live in some crazy country like Arab Saudi.
Indonesia women do not want to share husbands.

    Anti-Valentine Raids On Java Bed-Sits? :

Did you post your Valentine card with a crayoned SWALK on the back of the envelope, as we did when we were approaching adolescence..

    .Hasil gambar untuk SWALK

If so, one hopes the SatPol PP ( civic militia, aka sectarian goon-squad) in Sukabumi, West Java, didn’t catch you doing so!

Bigots in uniform are planning to stamp out celebrations of St. Valentine’s Day.

“We’ve ordered night clubs and hotels not to put up Valentine’s Day decorations,”

That’s how Sudrajat, SatPol boss in Sukabumi, seeks to wage his sectarian war on freedom. And no only that.

The agency, the police and military officers may raid night clubs, hotels and rented rooms, known as kos, to make sure everyone complies to the order.

    “ Jackboot

Stomping bed-sits to enforce kill-joy sectarianism

The brazen intolerance of this geezer, and of the benighted establishment he serves, alas, comes as no surprise to anyone familiar with West Java’s reputation.

Cops Stop West Java Worship, Appease Islamist Louts

Christians Abused by Islamist Mob, Cops Fail to Enforce the Law

I’m not worried about any dearth of postal deliveries today.

But it does worry me that prejudiced pipsqueaks can tell citizens in a free country what they may, or may not, celebrate.

Nobody wants to force rabid Islamists to send Valentines – damn sure they won’t get any more than I expect to get!

But stalinoid sticky-beaks can tell NON-Islamists what days they can enjoy, or in what way?

    • It’s outrageous when they rant about invading people’s private residences, those humble kos bed-sits, to scrutinise how tenants are spending their free time.
    • If that’s what’s happening, with the ‘police and military officers’ ( the military are under the authority of the Government of Indonesia, not provincial prigs) how long can my Indonesian friends count on Indonesia remaining a free country?

Thanks for saying this, Ross. We and all my friends do not like this SatPol PP bully raiding.

My sister and me live in a kos and it is small but it is our home here. We do not want Satpol coming here to tell us what to do.
I do not care about valentines but if other people want to celebrate with party or have fun it is the business of them not of us. Satpol better to mind their own business.

Good morning Ross and SWALK to you today for this good writing.
I still have my english vocabulary books and use them to find good words.
Harmless is good word for Valentine..
Dictator is good word for to order no celebrating.

Also I like the word you use, Killjoy, for West Java satpol. Very good word for people like Pak Sudrajat.

So sorry Ross, I never comment any more but today of course must to say I am happy to not live in Sukabumi.
Police and military to raid koskosan is crazy .. .

    • JazPen 11:22 on February 14, 2017 Permalink | Reply

Happy to see you are giving more of your time to Indonesians problems, Ross. The Valentine panic is on us again but the worst, most worrying part of what you wrote is that ‘military officers’ are involved with these raids on bed-sits.
Bed-sit is maybe a little too nice a way to talk about these little kos rooms but it is the nearest Westen equivalent, so be it.

Most of the staff in the offices I visit around Jakarta decide to rent a kos because most of them come from outside Jakarta and it is cheaper and easier to find a little room to let here instead of trying to travel in each morning though the terrible traffic.

These places are where they go home after work to get some well earned rest and it is angering to think that a Satpol gang might burst in to start searching for Valentine cards or other evidence of people enjoying themselves.
Its nothing new but if the military are joining these raids then it is getting worse.
After Operation Prayer Mat under President SBY I hoped that Jokowi would make sure his soldiers would never be allowed to do sectarian operations again. I wish President Jokowi would order the army to have nothing to do with it but I think that is one Valentine wish that wont be granted.
