Javanese Voices Heard – ‘No Fanatics, Thanks!’

In Kendal, not the English Lake District area but the Indonesian regency, in Central Java, there’s a man named Nanang Supriyanto.

He’s the coordinator of Kendal Community Alliance and this week he was speaking to other citizens concerned about the antics of Rizieq the Fanatic, who has rarely been out of the news here…

    .

The Fanatic Returns! Indonesian “Scholar” Offers Warm Welcome!

…since his return from Saudi Arabia.

Nanang Supriyanto didn’t mince his words!

There are many scholars and ulama who always give lectures in a polite and cool manner.

Unlike Habib Rizieq, who always speaks in a provocative tone that can cause division in the Republic of Indonesia.’

    https://news.detik.com/berita-jawa-tengah/d-5267852/aksi-dibubarkan-polisi-massa-larung-poster-habib-rizieq-ke-sungai

    .

    Kendal rejects Rizieq!

    ..

That Kendal demo was on Tuesday, and the crowd who cheered his words dispersed peacefully at the request of police concerned over the distance rules prescribed against the Chinese Virus.

No childish anger against law enforcement.

As Pak Nanang said,.“We fully support the steps taken by the TNI-Polri in upholding the rule of law, especially against HRS….”

He said they didn’t want Rizieq in their part of Indonesia.

We hope that people throughout Indonesia will also take action like this,” he added.

Their demo sounds like it was not just responsible but fun, too!

The demonstration was followed by a theatrical action which tells of Habib Rizieq coming to Kendal and being rejected by the Kendal people….

    .

    .

…the crowd then carried a float of a poster with a picture of Habib Rizieq to the Kendal River…

    Kendal is far from unique.

    .

    .

In Bandung, West Java, an enthusiastic crowd burned Rizieq propaganda material.

    Here’s a link to a video. https://jabar.inews.id/video/video-massa-di-bandung-bakar-poster-habib-rizieq-depan-dprd-jabar

This is all a reflection of widespread concern over the behaviour of Rizieq and his vigilante gang, expressd in forthright terms, so different from mealy-mouthed ‘intellectuals!’

Good Job Well Done! Yet Jakarta NGO Nags Find Fault?

More about all this tomorrow…and the next day!

Since this petition is for Indonesian citizens only, I am just giving you a quick explanatory quote from another media source…

…the Al-Aqsa Mosque owned by the Ahmadiyah community in Tasikmalaya, West Java, was sealed off by the local government on the pretext of social distancing measures to prevent transmission of COVID-19….

It has long been a source of sadness to me, as someone who loves Indonesia, to watch this lovely country’s good name blighted by sectarian bigotry, against not only Ahmadis…

February 6 – Nine Years Ago, But Cikeusik Pogrom Never Forgotten!

    Indonesia – Cops Corral Class-War Hate-Gang!

The vile class-hate dogmas promoted by communism are not much in evidence here in Indonesia, especially since the PKI ( Communist Party of Indonesia) has long been banned.

    .

    .

The Reds tried to seize power back in 1965 and the armed forces, with the support of most of the people, hit back hard. Few relished the thought of their country undergoing the evils that attended communist rule on the Chinese mainland.

Although some ‘liberals’ in the media still whine about the consequences of that bloody strife…

Jakarta Post – Never Miss a Chance to Re-Hab Reds

‘We Don’t Want Communism?’ But if You Did, It’s Time To Apologise!!

..it’s fair to say that there’s no significant body of opinion sympathetic to marxist ideology.

All the more surprising then to read that just a few miles from where I live in Jakarta, in Tangerang, just across the city limits, a class-hate gang was rumbled last weekend, numerous arrests effected after propaganda slogans…

Time for the Crisis to Burn!”

    “Kill the Rich!”

“Wanna Die As Fools Or Fight?”.

…appeared ‘on the walls of shops, inviting the populace to riot…’

    That was Thursday.

The cops went after the perps, described as an ‘Anarko group,’ and by Saturday had picked up no less than five people, who, if found guilty, ) face ten years for incitement.

Thing is, in normal circumstances, this kind of quasi-marxist hogwash could be dismissed as adolescent antics, perhaps.

But in Indonesia these dark days, thousands have suddenly lost their jobs, not much chance of finding other work, and a very thin safety-net, which won’t bear too much weight.

    .

    .

Anxiety, to say the least, is widespread, and one person’s bad day can become a spark that can lead to Gods knows what. I wasn’t here for the 1998 mayhem ignited by Krismon, the economic crisis, but I know a lot of people, locals and foreign, who were.

Exhortations to ‘fight, kill, burn’ are desperately dangerous, not a prank, and the police response is hardly heavy-handed.

      I heartily agree, Ross.
The Jakarta Post last week had somebody writing about the danger of how “impoverished residents could blow up in the government’s face if it is not carried out prudently.”
Crowds can change their mood in minutes and that kind of slogan is not whats needed in our present situation.

I think you are naming the real problem. Anarko or PKI are same difference.

Ever Heard Of Parakansalak? Time You Did!

Don’t know about back in The Old Country, but the BBC World we get here in Jakarta has been running show-off ads featuring famous folk they’ve interviewed.

One such is President Jokowi, telling us how tolerant Indonesia is.

    .

    .

Maybe he could make a day-trip and ask the local authorities in Sukabumi, West Java what part of his broadcast they failed to understand.

Their administrative area includes a place called Parakansalak, where dwell a number of Ahmadis.

The Ahmadiyah are a peaceful, extremely inoffensive religious minority, but have been horribly persecuted here, for no reason, except Islamist intolerance.

    Examples?.

Victim of Islamist Murder Mob Gets Six Months in the Slammer

     …

    ahmadis transito
Savage bigots in Lombok destroy Ahmadi homes -100 cops just watched – and that wasn’t this month, it was YEARS ago.
    ….

    ahmadiyah2-e1285119271327

Ahmadi kids in ‘shelter’ after their families were driven out of their homes by vicious Islamists

When President SBY was in power, a leader notable for his open mind on matters of religion…

    =

….a specifically discriminatory diktat was declared, the notorious Tri-Ministerial Decree.

I used to hope Jokowi would chuck that diktat in one of his palace trash-cans, but so far, no such luck.

    Anyway, back to Parakansalak!

Sadly, in 2008, their mosque was subjected to an arson attack by a mob of bigoted savages. After 12 years, the victimised community decided they should start reconstruction of their place of worship.

According to the Jakarta Post, the local Ahmadi leader, a Mr. Asep  Saepudin, felt obliged, on 3rd March, to report intimidation to the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM)

    Why?

It seems that work was going ahead at the mosque when a senior police officer, named Slamet Irianto, showed up and told the work-men to stop work.

    Why?

This is where it gets weird.

Remember, it’s a local top cop we’re talking about.

The police chief said that a mob would come to the site and ransack the building if the builders continued.

So he tells the good people to cower from evil savages?

Surely he has officers at his nearby precinct whom he can summon, if the mob is detected in the vicinity.

Surely the proper thing for a policeman of any rank is to take steps to ensure law-abiding folk can get on with their legitimate business.

Surely if a pack of pig-ignorant louts seek to interfere, the cops, all armed here, could simply fire a warning shot, then take out a few of the scumbags if they refuse to scarper.

The report gets even more nauseating the longer you read it, how local government turns out to be as unfamiliar with the concept of religious liberty as the cops there…

    .

….but here’s the link if you wish to use it.

I try to write about the plight of the Ahmadiyah from time to time, but used to write a lot.
I should get back to that level of frequency.

Bekasi Jihadist Jerks Amok – Police Tear-Gas Hate-Gang!

Having once, regrettably, lived in Bekasi, I was not greatly surprised to read that the cops there had to fire tear-gas yesterday to break up a savage sectarian mob,

The city is really nowadays just a suburb of Jakarta, though with its own mayor and regent and other trappings of municipal authority…

On the other hand, while evil bigotry in those parts is no surprise, it is in fact refreshing to see the police taking sensible steps against them. Bekasi cops have not always been above reproach.

    — is hard for normal people to understand but that’s what yesterday’s mayhem was all about.

The rabble – after Friday prayers, we’re told – ran amok because they think local Catholics should not be allowed to complete construction of the Santa Clara Church.

We’ve covered this continuing saga of sectarian hatred before, just over a year ago.

    ===

Bekasi Bigots V Religious Liberty, Again!

According to the JP, hundreds of hollering freakos – fresh from prayers, remember –  coordinated by the ludicrously named Forum for Bekasi Muslim Friendship showed up and tried to force their way into the church, emphasising their commitment to selective Friendship by hurling rocks and bottles.

Those are dangerous things to throw, so the police were surely very restrained to use only tear-gas to disperse them.

Some people might think live ammo would have been a proportionate response.

Whatever, it seems to be the case that Ismail Ibrahim, a cleric and organizer of the protest, feels no shame about his fan-club’s thuggery. He told the media they would not disperse until authorities met their demand to cancel the church’s construction permit.

    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2017/03/24/police-fire-tear-gas-at-bekasi-church-protestors.html

Please note, the Santa Clara Church has gone through the very rigorous process of getting government permission to build their place of worship. Even the very sternly Islamic mayor there endorsed their right to go ahead.

Late Start For Indonesia’s Valentine Kill-Joys!

Heck, I’ve been waiting for the past week for the annual kill-joy chorus.

    Killjoys-

Since the most fanatical elements in Indonesia are pre-occupied with the prosecution of Jakarta’s Governor Ahok for daring to quote a Koranic verse on the campaign trail…

“We encourage the government to process the death penalty for Ahok as soon as possible…”.  http://www.suara.com/news/2016/10/14/134313/

‘All you need is love, tra-la-la!’

    ———

…I had begun to think they’d not got the time and/or energy to pick on kids who like the harmless fun of St.Valentine’s Day.

We had a jolly post last year, about attempts to provide a substitute for the scary ‘day of love…’

    -extract below-

    ………..=============

    Tolak (Reject) Valentine’s Day

    ==

    Boring!

    Hari Menutup Aurat International?

Literal translation  – ‘International Day for Covering Aurat.’

    Aurat?

    A matter of interpretation.

But Google Translate often gives it as ‘private parts’ – yet what normal, sane people regard as private parts has little to do with it, though no regrets for the fun afforded me when I wrote about “No Guarantees On Miss World’s Private Parts!” MUI

Another common Google Translate offering is ‘genitals!’ Most of us would be taken aback if genitalia were on display, but that’s uncommon, to say the least, except in the smallest minds to be found in the archipelago.

Genitals?…‘Scholars’ on Scarfs – ‘Must Be Shariah-Compliant, Hide Genitals, Show No Curves!’  .

We can review what’s a private part in a moment, but first let me remind you – aurat is a sexist concept, a form of subjugation imposed by men, usually old but often younger fogeys too.

The poster below, which needs to be widely circulated, makes the sexism absolutely clear.

    000000000

    aurat-mereka-dosa-anda-2

Addressed to ayah dan suami, fathers and husbands, you can see what’s  forbidden in the lists on either side of Michelin Maid.

Then, at the bottom, it offensively tells the afore-mentioned gents that –

    ‘Their Aurat is Your Responsibility.’

In other words, inspect your women before you allow them out!

But you men can go bare-headed, flaunt your knees, etc…

    —————————-

THAT was last year…or the year before, or the year before that…hard to keep track of the recurrent ranting.

    February 14th – ‘International Hide-The-Yummy-Bits Day!’

    oooooooooooooo

    oooooooooooooo

    But back to this year.

West Java’s extremism rarely fails to appal (please use our ‘search’ facility) and sure enough, here’s the news from that sad Indonesian province.

West Java Education Agency head Ahmad Hadadi signed the letter on the ban on Friday.

“[The administration] bans students from commemorating Valentine’s Day on February 14, 2017 at school or outside school,” he said…

    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2017/02/12/west-java-students-not-allowed-to-celebrate-valentines-day.html

Undoubtedly, no matter how outlandish the reasons…

…the ban was part of the government’s efforts to build good moral character in students and prevent them from engaging in activities that contravened religious, social and cultural norms…

    ……..

…West Java can issue such coercive diktats to the youngsters when they’re on school premises.

Cruel Jakarta Post, Thus To Raise Then Dash Our Hopes!

Busily watching the Inauguration, today’s visitor long since left, so for the time being I’m stuck with a newly-empty bottle of Jim Beam for company.

    Jim-Beam-White-Label-Posters

Don’t be alarmed – there were only a few inches in it when I started this arvo, the remains of my Festive Season allocation, just enough to toast the new President in Washington!

But now that The Donald is safely installed – good, short speech, BTW! – a look at local news here.

    the-jakarta-post

In my opinion, the Jakarta Post is rarely a source of hope for many people.

In fact sometimes it’s a real source of despair!

I have long hoped its editorial clique might grow a set and condemn their parent company, Gramedia, for complicity in Nazi–style book-burning.

    ——————-

    • But so far, on that shameful episode, at least, back-bones remain underdeveloped.
    • However, today, recovering slowly from the third party attended this week, I flicked through their current output of local news, and my heart skipped a beat at this exciting headline.

    Noose tightens around FPI leader

The FPI, as most readers know from its constant appearance on our pages, is a nasty sectarian thug-gang, and the leader referred to is Habib Rizieq.

If you have missed recent stories on these phenomena, here’s a couple of links.

Nightmare – Indonesian IslamoNazis Get Armed Forces Training!

    fpi kill busddhist

So Has Indonesia Come To This? Paradise Lost?

So you can imagine my disappointment when I opened up the ‘Noose’ story and learned that the JP writers were not being literal…

    …….

    gallows

    .

    ….but had resorted to metaphor!

Never mind.  I’m a resilient fellow, and never stay downcast for long.

Besides, there’s another party to go to tomorrow – actually, today, for it’s after midnight here!

In fact, of course, the report in the JP is quite fun to read, with the fanatic facing possible prosecution in West Java, of all places, after loads of decent Indonesians were outraged by IslamoNazi antics.

Rizieq now faces public scrutiny as the police investigate five separate cases. These cases relate to Rizieq’s alleged blasphemy toward Christianity, insults to the State ideology Pancasila, comments over supposed communist symbols on Rupiah bank notes and hate speech.

    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2017/01/20/noose-tightens-around-fpi-leader.html

Read and savour, the biter belatedly bit.

Hoffentlich, Herr Gauck Learned Lots From Jokowi!

Just heading out to meet somebody for lunch, but have been persuing the news, much of which I missed in recent days, due to a crowded partying schedule.

So President Jokowi had a meeting with his German counterpart Joachim Gauck in Jakarta last week?

    ——-

    Hasil gambar untuk gauck jokowi

    ——————————–

Whilst we must weigh Jokowi’s words about how Indonesia is an example of how Islam, democracy and tolerance could go hand in hand. against his actions, or inactions – the government’s refusal to enforce the Supreme Court ruling on the right of West Java’s Christians to worship unmolested in their own churches….

X-Rated Xmas – Foul-Mouths Bully Christians, As ‘Moderate’Mayor Denies They Exist!’

….and Jokowi’s failure to repeal the infamous Tri-Ministerial Decree that grotesquely discriminates against the Ahmadis, I still believe he is personally tolerant.

    freedom-of-religion

But alas, there is shocking intolerance, notably expressed recently in Bandung, where a Christian pre-Christmas service was broken up by IslamoNazi hoodlums –http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/12/10/christians-in-indonesia-refuse-to-give-in-to-fear.html

    – and not that long ago in Jakarta itself…

Grovelling Gramedia’s BookBurning Bonanza – Appeasing Fanatics

    • burning booksGramedia’s Hitlerite book-burning

    • …………………..

….when a major publishing company, Gramedia, enthusiastically joined in a Hitlerian bookburning staged by Islamist fanatics.

But since we’re told the chat encompassed democracy too, Jokowi may have had something to teach Herr Gauck, on that subject – because they also discussed the issue of the death penalty…

While rape and murder at the hands of undesirable aliens has been hitting the headlines in Germany this year –Police Chief Blames Merkel Migrant Policy for Teenage Girl Murder – Mama Stasi’s Government has ignored one obvious step to take to deal with such atrocities.

    ———–

    agallows

    ————-

On capital punishment, she is morally obliged at least to give German voters a referendum on the subject.

Jokowi’s determination to retain the death penalty is safely anchored in the overwhelmingly support for proper punishments among Indonesians of walks of life, except perhaps some media creeps and ‘intellectuals.’

It’s just a pity he doesn’t use it more often, on terrorists…

In Indonesia – Time To Re-Start Terrorist Executions!

…instead of narrowly focusing on drug crime.

Who knows, the German visitor may have gone home with fresh insights into how democracy works. At the moment, it’s not working very well in Germany.

    raperefs

In his statement, President Gauck said Jokowi was a progressive President who had moved Indonesia’s politics and economy forward.  http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/04/19/jokowi-meets-with-german-president-discusses-death-penalty.html

You make a logical case, Ross, if Jokowi wants to shoot the drug-smugglers, why not also shoot the terrorists

The problem seems to be that he likes to keep in with those very unpleasant gents in the MUI and after we saw him bowing to Mr. Rizieq at Monas, you can’t honestly tell us that our esteemed president is about to do anything to upset the religious extremists here.

Long weekend in my province with no internet so I only now read this and I agree so much.
It is sad that Jokowi is not to stand up for religious freedom like we were thinking he was.
The Gramedia story I did hear before and will be happy to forgive if they say sorry but they never apologize so I will not do shopping there anymore.
Gramedia bosses do not understand Indonesia Pancasila.
Also I agree that terorist should die. They all same like ISIS only hate other people so we must send them fast to God but punish them here first to get them to God fast..

Islamist ‘Scholar’ – Red/Jew Plot Behind Jakarta Demo?

    Oh Wow!

I’d forgotten all about Pak Rafani Achyar, West Java chief of the MUI, the Indonesian Ulema Council – that’s the Council of Indonesian ‘Scholars.’

    • He’s saying his members shouldn’t join the fanatic parade in Jakarta this Friday, at least not if they’re wearing MUI paraphernalia.

Half-Million Fanatics Descending On Jakarta? Peacefully!?!

    Good, I hear you say?

Well, it might be, if we weren’t aware of his loathing for religious tolerance, exemplified by comments he made a while back about the inoffensive Ahmadi minority, citing the case of the Ahmadiyah, who are not dealt with even when their offense is very real and clear.

    ===================

    • Rafani MUI’s Rafani

But we’ve not heard much about him since his famous rage against a VERY sexy woman – whom I wrongly identified as Miss World, when in fact she was Miss Universe!

In fact he expanded his rant then to encompass a whole lot of very sexy women!

    Not Sharia-Compliant?

    ooooooooooooooooooooo

‘Ban Miss World!’ say Kill-Joy Clerics. Why? ‘She Ain’t Sharia Compliant!’

Besides Inul, Dewi and Jupe, MUI West Java branch secretary general Rafani Achyar said he wanted to ban Anisa Bahar, Uut Permatasari, Ira Swara, Nita Thalia and the group Trio Macan. Trio Macan

Trio Macan, yummy dangdut singers, like the others named above

Is this guy going to republish ‘The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion?’

I am really intrigued by the goings-on in the place you live.
I did spend some time in South East Asia but must of led a sheltered life or where I was just didn’t have all the nutty characters you write about.
SInce reading this an hour ago, I have been trying to find any other English language coverage of Mr. Ranfani’s stunning Zionist-Bolshevik conspiracy theory but so far not been able to.
However, I looked at the link and used Google Translate to see what it said so I know you’re not making it up. Are ALL these ‘scholars’ as downright peculiar as him?
Please keep this stuff coming. It’s an eye-opener.

Pluralism? Muslim Sermons on Public Buses?

I don’t like flying. Never have, never will.

    =

    =

In the days when I had time to spare, my choice was always the ocean wave rather than way up high.

But one resigns oneself to it, pretending one is on a bus and avoiding the sight of clouds outside your window. Now, however, taking an actual bus here in Indonesia, at least in one major city, is going to be a bit of an ordeal as well.

Bandung, West Java’s top city, has many buses going to and fro on its streets, and the Jakarta Post last weekend reported there’s to be a program for Islamic preachers to board city buses and give sermons.

Bandung looks normal, but it IS in West Java!

Cops Stop West Java Worship, Appease Islamist Louts

    ——-

    Good grief.

Apart from the fact that no similar opportunity to hector helpless passengers appears to have been offered to Christian, Buddhist or Hindu preachers, who needs sermons when you’re on the way to work?

Anyone Muslim in Bandung, or anywhere in West Java, who wants to enjoy spiritual uplift, has a choice of multitudinous mosques to drop by. Most people who board a bus like to doze off, read a paper, or chat to whomsoever’s sitting next to them.

What gives Bandung City the right to disturb their preferred peaceful pastimes?

But it gets even weirder – the Mayor claims not to know anything about this sectarian propaganda scheme.

    Mayor Ridwan Kamil

“When they announced it, they did not have my permission. We have no such plan, why did they announce it? I am confused myself,” Ridwan Kamil said.

Seems like Hizonna needs to slap down those who’ve been keeping him in the dark about this bizarre plan, which was announced a few days earlier by H. Latief, the head of religious affairs at the city secretariat.

    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/08/15/bandung-mayor-has-not-given-nod-to-bus-sermons.html

According to Latief, the sermons will only happen on state-owned DAMRI buses. In Jakarta, they only run to the airport, but in Bandung, I don’t know.

Kasubag Sosial Keagamaan Bagian Kesra Setda Kota Bandung, H. Latief Latief

    00000000

However, if they are state-owned, all the more reason to stop Latief’s scheme. Indonesia is NOT an Islamic Republic, but a multi-faith nation, so this putative sectarian hi-jack is totally out of order.

    0000000000000

    • ———————-
    • But Latief’s arrogance is unbelievable. He asserts that the sermons would be better than just daydreaming, communicating through cell phones or sleeping.

No way is that for the likes of some jumped-up wowser like Latief to decide for you or me, buddy! Talking to family or friends, or texting, are splendid ways to pass time on a bus, as indeed is sleeping.

    ……………….

    sleep-6

    ——————

    And it gets worse!

Turns out it’s a joint project between the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ office in Bandung, the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) and Bandung Islamic State University.

    ————-

    • fatwa mui sholeh Ulemas are ‘scholars’ – so they say.
    • ————–
    • Hell, if the MUI has got anything to do with it, one must hope that the poor mayor can quickly regain control of his city administration. Any clerics the so-called ‘scholars’ approve are almost bound to be bad news!

    —————

    • ma'arruf amin  Ma’aruf
    • ———-

It was MUI’s Deputy Chair who kindly advised everyone that FGM is a ‘human right!’

     https://rossrightangle.wordpress.com/2013/03/06/clitoral-clip-no-scraping-suffices-tell-us-islamist-scholars-why-do-it/

And here’s another of their ‘scholars’ talking.

    ===================

    ————-

“If the act of adultery is by a married person, then stoning is the sentence, while if unmarried, then it’s whipping,” he said.

Syamsul Maarif,  General Secretary of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Jakarta

     —————–

So now we have a hint of what Latief means when he says the bus-preacher sermons would touch on the subject of “morals, good deeds, etc.”

It’s bad enough with getting blasted by the loud-speakers from the mosques.
You are right of course but they couldnt be any worse than those awful ‘musicians’ that jump aboard and scream for three minutes then want paid.
