Malaysia – Islamists Use Police State Tactics Against Christians

Malaysia’s Christian minority is in shock today after Selangor State’s Islamic Religious Department ran amok, their goon squad staging a raid on the Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM), in the course of which 300 Bibles were seized and two Christian leaders hauled off to jail.

A team of officers from Jais and two policemen went to the BSM offices in Damansara Kim, in Selangor, today at 1pm and carted away some 300 copies of the Bible in Bahasa Malaysia and Iban.

Lee Min Choon, BSM President, courageously stood up to the shariah bully-boys, demanding to see their warrants when they attempted to invade his office. Turns out they carried no such legal authorisation!

Nevertheless, the bigot goons forcibly escorted Lee and his Office Manager, Sinclair Wong,  to Damansara police station.

Council of Churches of Malaysia general-secretary Rev Dr Hermen Shastri has spoken up loudly in protest. He says that the Federal Constitution guaranteed the right of religious communities in the country to freely profess and administer their affairs.

The two victims were released later on police bail, so it looks like this is an exercise in intimidation by Islamist fanatics in Selangor, where intolerance is an engrained part of the regime, viz. the ridiculous Selangor Non-Islamic Religions (Control of Propagation Among Muslims) Enactment 1988, which, inter alia,  prohibits non-Muslims in Selangor from using 35 Arabic words and phrases, including “Allah”, “Nabi” (prophet), “Injil” (gospel) and “Insya’Allah” (God willing).

Like so many nasty fanatics here in Indonesia, the Islamist establishment across the Straits is consumed with insecurity, ever fearful that, if their flock get to hear any other creed’s gospel, they’ll desert en masse.

That’s why the Federal Government in KL went to court to stop a Catholic journal using ‘Allah’ for God in its publications.

  • malaysia-truly-asia-300x271 …or truly Arabia?
  • The same report tells us that a recent defence of religious liberty by a Catholic leader, Rev Father Lawrence Andrew, had caused an uproar among various non-governmental organisations, which among others, described his action as not only challenging the sensitivities of Muslims, but also a sign of disrespect for the law.

Well, a law aimed at curbing the right to worship God as you see fit does not deserve respect!

And lots of people everywhere are fed up pandering to the ‘sensitivities’ of some people who seem to wake up every morning sniffing the air for something to hurt their feelings.

Truly pathetic.

However, this latest incident appears to have no constitution or court legitimacy. Lee said the legality of the Bible has been recognised by various orders issued by the home minister…”as long as the Bible has a cross and the words ‘Christian publication’ on the cover, it can be freely imported and distributed to Christians.”  http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/jais-has-no-right-to-raid-bible-society-of-malaysia-premises-says-council-o

We wait and see if pluralism in Malaysia survives the current onslaught.
